Raj Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Indian fans out in force in London, stopped the traffic near Piccadilly Circus. Great scenes. I was working last night and we had to go to something off Melton Rd about 2300 hrs. It was heaving!!! HOrns blazing and just general noise!! Just hope it all went peacefully. Up the India!!!
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 3 April 2011 Posted 3 April 2011 Zaheer Khan shouldve been player of the tournament for me. How many times did Dhoni throw him the ball when India were desperate for a wicket and he did exactly that. Not only in this world cup but generally over the last 5 years. Considering his fast ball is 85/86mph it shows sheer pace i.e Lee, Akhtar, Steyn etc is not always needed.. Well done India!
Fosse Boy Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Hey, I know what will do wonders for the future growth of world cricket! Let's ban all non-Test nations from entering the next World Cup! Divs. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/12971731.stm
Corky Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Well done the ICC, these smaller nations will be encourged to hear they aren't wanted.
FoxyPV Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 Joke of a decision especially given the results in this world cup
Fosse Boy Posted 5 April 2011 Posted 5 April 2011 They need a 2nd Tier World Cup They already have the ICC Trophy. Need to be integrating nations like Ireland who do have regular ODI and Test-level potential in future decades rather than isolating them. Massive step backwards from the corrput morons at the ICC.

If i was the on the board of the ICC This would be what i would do - World Cup Every 2 years - WC 10 Teams 2 x 5 groups each team plays 4 group games, top 2 from each group in to semis and then Final. Tournament finished within 3 weeks. - Tier 2 WC Same 10 teams 2 x 5 every 2 years as well. - Relegation System Bottom team from each group get relegated to Tier 2 WC and 2 finalist from Tier 2 WC promoted to WC for the next World Cup. - Kenya, Holland, Canada, Ireland (maybe Scotland) all elevated to Test Status (Full international status) - Kenya, Holland, Canada, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh manly focus playing each other in Tests and Odi's with a sprinkling of One of tests and Odi's against the top nation. - Scrape the Icc Champions Trophy. - T20 WC every alternate year to the WC with the same system as the WC listed above. Thoughts?
Fosse Boy Posted 6 April 2011 Posted 6 April 2011 Reasonable idea in theory with the promotion/relegation but every 2 years would just be overkill in my opinion. If anything they should hold it every 4 years, expand to 16 team (4 groups of 4) with 2 going through to quarter finals. That would shorten the time it takes for the tournament to progress and over time developing nations would improve and have more of an impact. This 2015 joke decision has been made because TV deals have already been made between Indian companies and the Australian/NZ associations for one game per day to be played, and we all know from the ICC's view that what India wants (ie where the money is in the sport), India gets.

Well they play that many pointless series Australia are already playing a series against Bangladesh starting this weekend, no one not even the Aussie Media is giving a toss about it. Playing a shortened 3 week WC every 2 years would hold more peoples interest than having a 2-3 week 5 odi series just for the sake of playing a series. Foxy cutting out some of the pointless ODI series would would still leave plenty of time to play the 12-18 test matches teams play each year. A 7 week WC every two years or 3 week WC every 2 years you are actually 1 week better off.
StanSP Posted 7 April 2011 Author Posted 7 April 2011 Just got sent this by a mate: Shirt number - 10 Age - 37 (3+7=10) Height - 5ft 5 (5+5=10) WC Winning Date - 2/4/2011 (2+4+2+0+1+1=10) India win WC after 28 years (2+8=10) Strike Rate in World Cup = 9.1 (9+1=10) Truly TENdulkar
