Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 I'm going for Sri Lanka to win this now! India will struggle against a much better batting line up in my opinion. However, Sachin to get his 100th 100 at his home ground. Should be a great final.
Brown Fox Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Apparently Belgrave Road is nuts right now! Would love to see it if India win the final!!!
StanSP Posted 30 March 2011 Author Posted 30 March 2011 I can guarantee that if India win on Saturday, it will be about a 100x crazy than what it is now
Edmund Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Anyone watch this down the Soar Point? Judging by the number of police cars and vans and boys in blue hanging around outside about half an hour ago I'm guessing it kicked off quite badly. The place looked rammed I don't think it was related to the cricket. There was some sort of party going on there all day. People were pissed up chanting outside at eleven this morning!! Apparently Belgrave Road is nuts right now! Would love to see it if India win the final!!! Heard they closed it down. Also, Tendulkar has to be surely one of the greatest if not the best batsmen ever.
FoxyPV Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Get the fuck in, India! WIth 260, I genuinely thought it wouldn't be enough. But surprisingly, it was our batting that was weakest today. Our fielding, especially Raina and Kohli has been sublime. Bowling's been good too. Zaheer Khan chipping in with his 18th wicket of the tournament, and Yuvraj making up for his duck with 2 wickets. The scene is set for Tendulkar to get his 100th century, in his hometown, Mumbai on Saturday This and the consistent line and length bowling was the difference. Hats off to India because, with a relatively low total I thought it was almost Pakistan's to lose, they fought really hard and fully deserved the win. I'm definitely sticking money on Sachin scoring his 100th hundred on Saturday.
StanSP Posted 30 March 2011 Author Posted 30 March 2011 For cricket in general, it would just be perfect for Sach to get his 100th 100, and Murali to get a few wickets to mark his International retirement. 2 living legends of the game in one place, fighting for one trophy. It couldn't be set up any more perfectly. I just saw highlights again and seeing Yuvraj displacing Shafiq's middle stump...
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 I don't think it was related to the cricket. There was some sort of party going on there all day. People were pissed up chanting outside at eleven this morning They were still doing that at half past 6. Quite a session! A lot of the dudes were wearing India and Pakistan tops (not the same people) so I guessed it was a cricket jolly
FoxyPV Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Yuvraj and Zaheer have been great so far. Some excellent fielding from India.
ScouseFox Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Jayawardena get his 100. Carried this innings and with two powerplay overs left on 248-6, could be looking at 265 or so which gives them something to defend.
Peter File Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Time to take Kulasekera and Perera off, time for the real deal ie Murali Don't really like Yuvraj but he has been immense in this WC. He'll be a key wicket for both sides.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 See Dhoni bossing this. Come on Murali, chuck for the Cup son.
Edmund Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Looking like this could go down to the last ball. Come on Sri Lanka.
Peter File Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 India on top for me. 110 from 18 overs with 7 wickets in hand is very doable. Of those 18 overs left, 9 will be from Murali and Malinga. The other 9 crucial. I can't really see who will bowl them and not go for runs.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 See Dhoni bossing this. Come on Murali, chuck for the Cup son. Sticking by this. He'll see it through.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Sticking by this. He'll see it through. What a hit to end the game. THAT'S how you win a World Cup. Gutted for Sri Lanka though.
Edmund Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 What a way to finish and win the world cup. It's going to be carnage around Belgrave road later. Unlucky for Sri Lanka as they did well this tournament and thoroughly deserved to reach the final. The best team won though.
ScouseFox Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Wanted Sri Lanka to win, no reason really, but India were superb, yet again. Well played.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 I've enjoyed it more than the footy world cup. I enjoy the World Cup of Crown Green Bowls more than the football one these days...
purpleronnie Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 I enjoy the World Cup of Crown Green Bowls more than the football one these days... Fair point.
Ricey Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Indian fans out in force in London, stopped the traffic near Piccadilly Circus. Great scenes.
FoxyPV Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Can't fault Sri Lanka but India were just too good. to Dhoni great knock when it mattered and captained very well. Gambhir lost his head and went for the glory shot and cost himself a century.
StanSP Posted 2 April 2011 Author Posted 2 April 2011 And that is why I love India . Everything about today's match was immense. The attitude, the intensity, the atmosphere and of course the cricket itself! For a nation with poor fielding credentials, today was a turn up for the books. Yuvraj and Raina in the first innings were sublime. And Sri Lanka's fielding started off well (Dilshan's catch . Great reflexes!). I still can't get over how Dhoni won the game for us though. There was a time where I thought we were gonna be out of it when Dhoni got injured. I thought he was going to be forced off. But it's not in his nature and he battled on superbly with Gambhir/Yuvi. I just love the way he smacked the winning runs!! Credit to Sangakkara as well for his post-match comments praising both teams and admitting defeat graciously. Cricket World Cup > Footy world Cup
