Wiped out!

After all those close finishes and near misses, we get as clear cut a result as you could get.

Yes they've batted well, but they haven't been too badly stretched really. Not been the best of tournaments in terms of results and performances, but it's been quite dramatic from an England perspective.

Losing to anyone by 10 wickets in a ODI is poor though, if that's to happen.

I'm sure the England players wanted to win but I bet they'll be glad to go home at last.

At least, unlike the football World Cup, we've had some cracking games.

We've been average but we never looked like excelling when it mattered (like today). The best teams are left, looking forward to the rest of the games. I never thought I'd be interested in 50 over cricket.

This winter always was going to be about The Ashes and The Ashes only for England though. Everything else has just been a sideshow.

100s up from both openers, no wickets lost and over 10 overs spare.

Good job from the Sri Lankans.

TBH I'd rather be world champions than ashes winners.

Losing by 10 wickets is bad enough but SL achieving the target within 39.3 overs. Pathetic!

Well quick google is that when the convicts first came here they were referred to as "Prisoners of mother england" POMS so all the people that came over here from England were referred to as POMS.

Do aussies mean it in a derogatory way? as most aussies are decendants from POMS it would be kind of 'pot calling the kettle'.

I was always told that it was prisoner of her majesty.

that sounds more likely - if it were "prisoners of mother england" surely it would be pomes rather than poms.
