purpleronnie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 At least the 'english' players have a nice tan.
Fosse Boy Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 It has been, but both of these batsmen are top class on their day. Certainly can't begrudge Dilshan his century.
davieG Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Wiped out! After all those close finishes and near misses, we get as clear cut a result as you could get.
ScouseFox Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Yes they've batted well, but they haven't been too badly stretched really. Not been the best of tournaments in terms of results and performances, but it's been quite dramatic from an England perspective. Losing to anyone by 10 wickets in a ODI is poor though, if that's to happen.
Webbo Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 I'm sure the England players wanted to win but I bet they'll be glad to go home at last.
Corky Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 Yes they've batted well, but they haven't been too badly stretched really. Not been the best of tournaments in terms of results and performances, but it's been quite dramatic from an England perspective. Losing to anyone by 10 wickets in a ODI is poor though, if that's to happen. At least, unlike the football World Cup, we've had some cracking games.
purpleronnie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 We've been average but we never looked like excelling when it mattered (like today). The best teams are left, looking forward to the rest of the games. I never thought I'd be interested in 50 over cricket.
Fosse Boy Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 This winter always was going to be about The Ashes and The Ashes only for England though. Everything else has just been a sideshow.
ScouseFox Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 100s up from both openers, no wickets lost and over 10 overs spare. Good job from the Sri Lankans.
purpleronnie Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 This winter always was going to be about The Ashes and The Ashes only for England though. Everything else has just been a sideshow. TBH I'd rather be world champions than ashes winners.
Bert Posted 26 March 2011 Posted 26 March 2011 England could've bowled all day and not took a wicket.
FoxyPV Posted 27 March 2011 Posted 27 March 2011 Losing by 10 wickets is bad enough but SL achieving the target within 39.3 overs. Pathetic!
The Doctor Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 just out of interest, why do the aussies call the english "poms"?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 No idea it's just always been what they have been referred to as....might do a little research.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Well quick google is that when the convicts first came here they were referred to as "Prisoners of mother england" POMS so all the people that came over here from England were referred to as POMS. CASE SOLVED
purpleronnie Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Well quick google is that when the convicts first came here they were referred to as "Prisoners of mother england" POMS so all the people that came over here from England were referred to as POMS. CASE SOLVED Do aussies mean it in a derogatory way? as most aussies are decendants from POMS it would be kind of 'pot calling the kettle'.
Webbo Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 I was always told that it was prisoner of her majesty.
The Doctor Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 I was always told that it was prisoner of her majesty. that sounds more likely - if it were "prisoners of mother england" surely it would be pomes rather than poms.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 March 2011 Posted 28 March 2011 Yeah but we shorten everything our country is 'stralia and good day mate is simply g'day mate

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Ricky Ponting Resigns as Captain I think it is time for a change but don' think "Pretty boy Clarke" is the right answer
