StanSP Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2011/March/Club-statement-kolo Manchester City confirm that the FA has informed Kolo Toure that an ‘A-sample’ provided by him has tested positive for a specified substance. As result of this, he has been suspended from participating in all first team and non-first team matches pending the outcome of the legal process. There will be no further comment from the football club at this stage.
Dylan Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 We should be re-instated in the FA Cup- would've easily beaten them if it weren't for Toure
Haydos Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 until more is released. Could be nothing much in this.
Arkie Bennett Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Have they specified what the specified substance is?
StanSP Posted 4 March 2011 Author Posted 4 March 2011 Not yet but when 'specified substance' is used, apparently it usually relates to cough medicine or something like that which can have banned substances in. If he wasn't sure about it, he should have asked the Man City staff if it was okay to take, and if they cleared it for him to take, well the club should be blamed and not Toure.

But it seems this could be abit iffy as Mancini is saying quite alot of things about it "let the club down, etc" so in turn if the club has indeed shafted Toure in this then well it's the club in the end that has let Toure down
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Hope he gets rubbed out for about 24 months send a message to everyone.

If he wasn't sure about it, he should have asked the Man City staff if it was okay to take, and if they cleared it for him to take, well the club should be blamed and not Toure. Irrespective of whether he asked a member of Man City's staff, Toure has been a complete arse. I don't buy the whole "Oh I took a cough medicine and I didn't know it had a banned substance in it" nonsense. He'll have had a cold or a cough at some stage in his career and thus he should know what medicines he can and cannot take. If it turns out that he has taken something - even cough medicine - then frankly I hope he gets punished. If a young girl can be banned from competing in swimming competitions for using a foot-cream her mother gave her to control an infection, even though her performance was not boosted by the use of this cream, then Toure should feel the full force of the authorities. A 2 year ban is the starting point for a positive test, which can be reduced on appeal by 50% if there are mitigating factors. It'll only be completely overturned if he didn't know he'd been given the substance, e.g. the team doctor put it in his drink or something. Doubt that's the case, though, so he should in my eyes be looking at a ban if he's knowingly taken something which is banned.
Finnegan Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 His wife's slimming pills. The least manliest excuse of all time?! Hahaha.
Guest Bilo Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 His wife's slimming pills. The least manliest excuse of all time?! Hahaha. I thought that when I read it. Wonder if BlueBrett will feel threatened by him now?
orangecity23 Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 I thought that when I read it. Wonder if BlueBrett will feel threatened by him now? He's losing weight so he can fit through the open window at Brett's house
The Doctor Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 He's losing weight so he can fit through the open window at Brett's house what you're forgetting is that the moment bluebrett read this news he relocated to an undisclosed location and boarded up every window and door.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 He's still a bloody menace. I bet he feels really silly right now. Why on earth did he decide to take slimming pills ffs?! I could understand if it was James Beattie or someone! I can only imagine he did it unthinkingly and there is nothing sinister in it. I wonder if he is still getting paid? Perhaps he just fancied a bit of a holiday if so.
CKB Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 SLIMMING PILLS???? SLIMMING PILLS??? REALLY??? REALLLLLLYYY?? For that he deserves to be banned for 9 years
orangecity23 Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 He's clearly just trying to snaffle a guest role in one of those Boots comercials where the bloke uses the woman's vitamins and stuff. Mrs Toure: Have you been using all my women's vitamins? Kolo: Yeah, they work well good. Mrs Toure: Well, make sure you stay out by diet pills. They're banned for athletes. Kolo: (worried expression) Cue 'Here comes the girls' music and a Boots logo. Right, where do I collect my massive PR paycheck for this?
tartanowl Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 He should get a ban similar to Paddy Kenny. Going by his performances this season though it can hardly be described as performance enhancing.
LCFCmatt Posted 5 March 2011 Posted 5 March 2011 When there's trouble and strife, blame it on the wife
