Kent Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Don't get me wrong, I'm gutted after last night. But now that playoffs are looking bleak I've started to look to next season and I'm pretty positive about it. With the setup we have along with a good pre-season and signings I think we could be quality. I don't see why we can't bypass the lottery next year and get auto. I know its early days and there's still a chance we could snatch 6th, but in a way I'm just looking forward to the start of 2011/2012.
A lotta Bamba Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 I agree 100% It would be great to snatch 6th this season! But if we do not Next season will be a cake walk ( I hope)
m00nie Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 just hope A) we still have sven with us and B) the thais back him again
FuriousFox46 Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 10th in the league. Who gives a ****? Next Season, Leicester's going up.
Spiritwalker Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 I though about posting something similar last week. Even if we do make the playoffs we have only got a 1 in 4 chance of going up. My worry about next season is, have the Thais blown their budget gambling on getting promoted this season. Will we buy some of the better loanees or will it be another complete rebuild. The other problem for next season will be the strength of the relegated teams from the Prem who will almost certainly be stronger than this seasons.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 The thing is, I looked at it last year when when we played Cardiff and thought the same thing. The league this year is weaker than it has been for years, with no Newcastle or West Brom, and with the likes of Pompey, Hull and Burnley coming down. Yet in the summer there was all kinds of carnage which led to the terrible start to the season. You just never know with City. Anything could happen this summer. There might be money to spend, there might not. We might still have Sven, we might not. How about we just wait and see?
Legend_in_blue Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Our success next season depends on a variety of different factors, some of which I will go through now. Our ability to hold onto some, but not all, of the loanees would be a good start. Naughton and Mee should be top of this list. Of our current squad of players, Oakley needs off-loading and Berner will probably go. Howard as well. A lot of uncertainty there, but obviously we must keep hold of King. Sven needs to decide on a system of play and bring in the players to do the job in that system. 4-3-3 has had its moments but in some games hasn't offered much at all and a plan B has been severely lacking. Swapping like for like with the same system has not worked. We clearly need width, a decent right sided midfield player has been missing for years and someone who can do a job on the left if, as it seems, Dyer will play a bit part next season. Rather than build a team of loanees, a house built on sand, we need a solid base of permanent playing staff who put a shift in no matter what and build that house on rock. The financial backing of the owners is clearly there, as has been demonstrated with our goal machine, the bloke immune to criticism, Yakubu. Will the division be stronger next year? Possibly. I can't see the teams at the bottom of the prem struggling to stay in the mix come the end of next season.
AmericanScott Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 After i left last night, i had a feeling of optimism for next season. This season, I'll be happy if we finish top half after the start we had. Our fans expect too much because we are MASSIVE!!! We'll be in the same situation as QPR next season.

I am only 16 so that gives me a good insight into next year if we are still here!
Tommeh Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 I'll admit part of me is now looking to the top of league 1 and hoping Bournemouth and Brighton come up, a couple of corking weekends to be had down there. Add Southampton too if they can succeed in the play-offs. Miracles can happen and we've proved we can beat anyone but I do feel now the best we can hope for is a win at the scum on the trent and ensure they stay down with us.
Corky Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 I hoping we have a strong end to this season, finish with confidence and wherever we are after 46 games there will be optimism around the club.
Ashley Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 I've always said from the start of this season Leicester will be in the play-offs come the end of the season, I do still believe it can be done but it will take us to go unbeaten in these next 10 games. I wish it will happen but sadly it won't. Next season we will be better prepared in a number of areas. All the loanees will be going back to there respective clubs however I do think there would be a possibility of all the loanees coming back to us. I would rather have them as our own players though. A number of a current players will need to be shipped out such as Berner, Oakley, Neilson, Moreno, Lamey, Logan and finally N'Guessan. From there we can rebuild a stronger squad and have strength in depth. Come on Leicester!

Oh how I would love that to be the case. Although for me, beating them at their place is always the thing I want most from a season. Southampton can cock right off though. I hate them, they can stay and rot in that league. I'd rather 'udders or L'Orient came up with the two you've already mentioned, to be fair. Coming down from the PL, Wigan, Blackpool and Stoke would be unbelievable. 2 cracking away ties and a shit Wigan side. Ideal.
StanSP Posted 9 March 2011 Posted 9 March 2011 Leyton Orient and Brighton coming up would be very good for away travelling purposes. Not very far for me! For same reasons, I wouldn't mind Charlton coming up too. The latter so we can give Chris Powell a lovely warm welcome on his return to Leicester. If he's still there!

I'm majorly hungry for weekends darn' sarf' plus I've never been kicked out there so no beef with the Saints as yet. Love Orient to make play-offs and go up, Dons and peterborough can both cock off out of it, 2 poor days there. Blackpool, Stoke and West Ham/Brum coming down would be orgasmic.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 10 March 2011 Posted 10 March 2011 Fans thought the same about this season after cardiff. Personally I expected us to miss out this year-its a different kind of team required to make a season by season playoff push, than it is using the same players that went up from league 1 and are after back to back promotions. Norwich and leeds will struggle next season if they dont go up in may. If we dont go up-which we wont-svens either going to completely make his mark on the squad, with tops financial backing, or all the loanees will be going back to their clubs and sven will end up with 75% of his squad being players he doesnt actually rate!
