googie Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Riccardo's contract is up at the end of the season. Will he have done enough to earn a new contract?May depend what div we are in. But does he deserve to stay for another year?Thoughts???
Charl91 Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 I think he's good enough, no matter what the haters say
The Doctor Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 1) It's Ricardo, not Riccardo 2) The thread title isn't grammatically pleasing 3) Hard to say yet, he's been average, no better or worse than weale - keep him if we can't get anyone better (i'd quite like Alex Smithies or Joe Murphy)

Matt Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 As a backup - Maybe, probably not. As 1st choice - No.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Enit, I like wheel bt it depents wat div. we in
Haydos Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Think he has the potential to be a really good keeper for us once he settles in and doesn't have 20k people booing him twice a week. Like his style and experience. Heard it here first....well, early

Agree with the shout about Smithies or Murphy - both good choices. Good win today - we could have easily slipped up with our current form - a win against Pompey will bring genuine hope again
Charl91 Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 I think he had a good game vs. QPR also. Our losing that one was down to lack of scoring (like normal).

Looks nervy at times and I know nobody can stand him but I'll make a proper judgement at the end of the season. Might be irrelevant anyway, could well have only been a stopgap for Sven until the summer.
Guest shearfox Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 For me his improving every game, he obviously is rusty but I feel he will come good... you don't play 70 odd internationals for a top side and become bad.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 March 2011 Posted 12 March 2011 Starting to agree with shearfox. Tho he did flap at one today and completely missed it
googie Posted 12 March 2011 Author Posted 12 March 2011 getting better and better every game.Worth another year i think.
shailen Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 He looked good today and is really getting suited to the league. He is a good keeper, that hadnt played in a long time before hr joined us hence the rustiness at start of his reign, but fair play to him...he hasnt really cost us many goals...even though he hasnt looked too good with crosses and corners, but good distribition and a good shot stopper rate him higher then weale IMO!

There's one significant factor that people keep forgetting about that though... he PLAYED 70-odd internationals and USED to be at a top side... he's now old, doesn't play internationals cause he's no longer the player he was and is, to put it lightly, a liability at times.

Beckham is old now and has over 100 caps but i dont think you would say no to him.He used to be at a top side and now hes at a good side.Still quality at this standard imo.

He is 34 though isn't he? That isn't actually that old for a Goalkeeper, a lot of Goalkeepers can play till the age of 38-40 before they start to decline.
B52 Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 Yes, how many keepers have such quick distribution!? He has at least 2-3 years left at a high level so we won't risk anything.
Alex Black Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 I'd like to see him become part of the coaching staff, he would be a great influence to our youngsters. I think he's a lot better than he's given credit for. I wish those idiots who sit infront of the fat dude with the drum would get behind him!
The Sven Revolution Posted 13 March 2011 Posted 13 March 2011 If we sign him permanent that means he will be No. 1 keeper and even if he isn't it would certainly mean Weale is off..I'd rather have Ricardo and Weale both in there next season fighting for the No.1 position..
