Corky Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 To be fair after last summer's outing I think we're entitled to still feel a bit pessimistic about anything England. I'm not going to go overboard and start bumming England or anything just because of one result. No one is going overboard, we've had a couple of decent performances in the last few days and the back-up players came in and did a steady job against a good team.
accessory Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 In the first half last night, England looked a better side for the absence of most of the usual egos. Some of the back-ups (Lescott in particular) looked a bit ropey later on, but overall there's plenty of positive things to work on over the summer and beyond.
lcfc_jme Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Barry is still a joke. Lescott is crap. ITV are awful. And Wembley still makes me laugh. That aside, Carroll took his goal very well but Gyan just stood out by far as the best player on the field. His goal was unbelievably well taken, but Lescott should really be dealing with that. Also, the kung-fu kick on Milner was hilarious. Was suprised Downing got MoTM, 'cos he was largely anonymous in the 2nd half for me. Didn't see the first half 'cos I was actually doing work ( ) but it sounds as though the game followed the same pattern as the Wales game in that England dominated before half time and took their foot off of the gas. Dangerous habit to get into, that.

StanSP Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Whats wrong with Wembley? Last night wasn't too bad, but that's only because Ghana fans were there. They were excellent. So much vibrancy and colour and energy for 90 minutes. Wembley lacks soul and as much as I like aesthetic qualities of newer stadiums, I still love older stadiums and especially the Old Wembley
ozleicester Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Whats wrong with Wembley? Im not sure what JME's issues may be, but to this day (and forever more i expect), I cannot fathom how the footballing public of England allowed the demolition of the Towers I like new wembley, impressive structure an all... but cmon... it was Wembley, the towers, the History, the World Cup, how?... HOW? was it allowed to happen? I dunno, you leave the country for a few years, they come along and knock down your religious temple....furious

Both sets of fans were great yesterday. England fans aren't getting enough credit imo. I went with my mate from Ghana and he kept saying to me "I wish the England fans would let us have a moment to support our team." Of course the atmosphere is going to be bad in a meaningless friendly with the exception of last night because there is no real reason to really get behind the team because there is nothing to play for.
