Samilktray Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 My English, and Ghanaian roots are both kept happy tonight.
ScouseFox Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Great to watch, much better than the average international.
The Doctor Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Suarez would have saved it. GYAN!!!!!!!! Top quality striker, bags of effort and ability to match. Brilliant entertainment, proper football match with all sorts of tackles flying in: from the sublime (Ghana #10 on Carroll after young had hit the bar) to the ridiculous (D.Boateng's yellow card - a proper mortal combat-esque challenge, Finish him!). The ghanian fans are top notch though, out-numbered, away from home yet still outdoing england, thank god for that - can't stand the brass band.
Corky Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Thought that was a good game with two very good goals, Ghana probably deserved the equaliser.
broughtonblue Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 England a bit Like Leicester, only play well for 1 half!
MikeyT Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Don't let Sosban Fach hear you say that - it'll be handbags at dawn!!! Why, what did i do?
ScouseFox Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Capello's on something laughing to himself like that.
Haydos Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Yeah deadly. Ashley Cole has been one of the best, if not the best left back in the world for a good 5 years or so. You might think he's a tosser but on his day he's as close to a perfect left back as you'll get. Only caught the last 20 or so, we looked to have taken our foot off the pedal judging by some of the earlier comments. All looked a bit lacklustre despite some dangerous build up play. Would have thought the subs could have injected a bit of tempo and urgency but Jarvis looked nervous and Defoe a tad quiet. Gyan's goal was top class though. Weak defending but the feint to make space to slot it into the corner
marko Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Why, what did i do? I think it's fair to say he doesn't rate the guy, although I think he was just a tad bitter. Have a look at the England v Wales thread - less than impressed.

Wymsey Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Ghana fully deserved their point. Played well. Even thought they should of won when Gyan had two one-on-one chances.
Jimothy Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Ghana fully deserved their point. Played well. Even thought they should of won when Gyan had two one-on-one chances. It was only a friendly. Ghana, strangely enough, aren't in England Euro qualifying group
Guest DavidJCW Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Well from what I saw today, we were pretty much outplayed by a far more determined and proud nation. Hopefully we'll start to realise that we're not that much better than Ghana if at all really... it's got to be about time that a bit of realism crept in.

No. To add, Ghana were a spot kick away from a World Cup semi final, if that's the team we're on a par with (or better than), I won't be moaning. The fringe (FRINGE) players put in very good shifts tonight, Downing and Cahill in particular looked composed. There were very few negatives to take from tonight, yet your post comes across as pessimistic. Can't win sometimes. We drew with Ghana, not Burkina Faso for fuck's sake.
Bugg Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 DavidJCW, it was our second team that conceded a last minute equaliser. Talk about being a doom merchant.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 March 2011 Posted 29 March 2011 Off topic but i couldn't give a rats toss bag we beat Germany 2-1 in Germany it may be a friendly but still i'm happy. Pity we couldn't do it when it counted 9 months ago.

Ozwin Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 To be fair after last summer's outing I think we're entitled to still feel a bit pessimistic about anything England. I'm not going to go overboard and start bumming England or anything just because of one result. Saying that I quite liked the team today, seemed like there was a bit of fight in them for what seemed like the first time in years. Ghana's fans were top notch too, credit to football.

Dickie Greenleaf Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 - Good performance from Downing, Cahill and Young once again. - Barry and Milner not bad, but Parker, Lampard, Wilshere HAS to be the starting trio for the next competitive match - Who was it that said Foster was better than Hart? Showed again last night why he's england's no.1 and will be for years to come. If they can work on this formation over the next year then they've got the makings of a really good squad to take to the Euros. Hart Foster James Cole Baines Terry Dawson Cahill Ferdinand (if fit) Johnson Walker Lampard Parker Wilshere Barry Gerrard Young Rooney Bent Defoe Carroll Walcott Lennon or Johnson
Charl91 Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Such a good game, I haven't enjoyed an England game like that since the WC quaIifiers, maybe before. I thought the team was brilliant in the first half. Did well, considering we were playing a team that were cheated out of the semi-finals. I don't think I'v seen England play that well in years, and for me, just emphasised my dislike for Rooney and Lampard, and why I think they should never start for England. Second half we did get a bit more complacent though. Thought our midfield was good for once, played some really good through balls in the first 20 minutes from all 3 of them (I think), which is suprising fo England. Generally hate Barry, but he had a fairly good game - I think normally having another slow player near him like Lampard doesn't help. Was nice to see us make more effort to go foward for once, rather then the standard get near goal then pass it all the way back to our keeper. Defense was a bit shakey, though not particularly more then usual, untill they brought Lescott on. Lescott should not ever play for England. Hart had a good game also. Still would prefer Bent to start, with Carrol to be subbed on later. Wouldn't change much, would like something like this Hart Johnson-Ferdinand-Cahill/Terry-Cole Milner - Barry/Parker - Wilshere/(maybe Gerrard) Downing - Bent - Young Only problem would be where to put Gerrard - one of the only "old guard" players I think deserves a place, but I haven't been impressed with him on the left for England before. Tough one. Would prob start Cahill over Terry to give him another shot, though with ferdinand always injured then they'd prob both start. Rooney and Lampard would be left on the bench, if they're lucky.
davieG Posted 30 March 2011 Posted 30 March 2011 Was I the only one who thought Milner was poor and looked like he'd prefer to be somewhere else and shouldn't be playing with the 2nd Eleven.
