Corky Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 Gays and football don't tend to mix in my experience. I know a handful of openly gay people at school and they'd never want to join in with us playing football at lunch. (So this guy could actually be the only gay player). If a forest player came out as gay I'd join in the banter no doubt Ooh get her.
BoneDog Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 I understand what acoolings on about because at my school it was the same. The gays didn't want to play football. They used to skip instead. Or sometimes play rounders or kiss chase. Or make daisy chains on the fields.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 31 March 2011 Posted 31 March 2011 At my school no gay was seen without four or five schlongs in them at any one time.

Dickie Greenleaf Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Acooling, maybe these openly gay people don't want to play football because: a) They aren't interested in football. or b) They think you're a cunt

Alexikokopops Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 I don't really see why you should have to come out and announce your sexual preference. If you're gay you're gay, if you are straight you are straight, i don't really care either way, you shouldn't have to announce it and it shouldn't be held against you whatever you are. What annoys me is that if a footballer or other sportsman 'comes out' then it is pasted all over the front pages, does it really matter that much? If you read the interview Hysen actually makes the point that it shouldn't be a big deal, but the only way it's going to get to thatstage is if some footballers do come out and footballers being comfortable in being who they are out of work. You can just imagine the stories at the moment if a footballer was spotted in a gay bar or something At my school no gay was seen without four or five schlongs in them at any one time. Only four or five? Prudes
FoxyPV Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 They have gays in schools these days? According to the documnetary "Glee" they are all pervasive and are particularly visible in musicals
Mack Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 This bloke was a complete nobody until he announced he was gay. Now he has article spreads about him in national newspapers in far away lands. Make of that what you will.

Mack Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Same as you before you became controversial This snide comment is based on two very wide of the mark facts. 1/ I want to be somebody, but I'm not quite sure where or why? 2/ I say things merely to be controversial. Fact is, I pop on here during breaks from writing while I eat my lunch, dinner etc as I am an LCFC fan and whilst a lot of what is said on here is rot there is some decent info on our club. If I see something and feel urged to pass comment I will, and I'll be honest and not just go with the flow to fit in. A comment was made on here earlier that made me think twice, about getting older and getting more right wing. Whilst I don't agree with this sentiment, I'm a socialist in political terms, I do do sort of agree if you substitute 'right wing' with 'Conservative' in the non political sense of the word. As a 40 odd year old man who was born and brought up in London I grew up in an area that was more afro Caribbean than white, so I am no stranger to minorities and people suffering from blanket stereotyping, and I have seen how it can cause upset, anger, friction and sadness. To be frank I couldn't give a toss if you, uncle tom cobbley, his monkeys cousin and his milk man are queer, does not bother me in the slightest, go for it and good luck to you. But as a man of a certain age, with a wife, kids and a good few years of life experience I would not feel comfortable dropping my tweeds in a room of homosexuals, just like I wouldn't in a room of women. And I see this as perfectly reasonable as there is an issue of a potential sexual nature in such a circumstance. If anyone can tell me how that makes me a homophobe, a wannabe or anything else other than honest, well, whatever... Homosexuals are in my opinion their own worse enemy by making a huge issue about being gay and shouting it from the rooftops like once it has been announced everyone should suddenly treat them differently. When I played football semi pro (reserve) many years ago they may well have been gay players in our squad. I may have got changed with them, shock horror! But it doesn't bother me because they didn't go running to the bar after a game to scream they were gay to everyone and anyone who would listen. If there were any they just got on with it, they were team mates, friends, colleagues, and it just didn't matter. Maybe if there was not such a clamour to 'out' gay footballers in the media etc this whole stupid issue would just go away and people could just go on being themselves without worrying where the man sitting next to you puts his old fella of an evening. These issues are whipped up by the media to keep the rotten train that they perpetuate in coal and water. It really doesn't matter.

Mate, a forum is for opinions, and you have every right in the world to have yours. I can also see the point that being gay is being pumped up now. Who cares if he is, it should not be plastered all over the newspapers. Yes, it may encourage some others to 'come out' but at the end of the day, he is only another guy. And as for people calling you, is maybe because on a public, internet forum, people may have brothers, relations etc who are gay. Myself, i have a lesbian cousin, but it doesn't bother me people calling homosexuals. Although, i am not fond of her, due to her being very ignorant.
Jackirius Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Enough about Gays, lets move on to peoples thoughts on lesbians.
Mee Posted 1 April 2011 Posted 1 April 2011 Enough about Gays, lets move on to peoples thoughts on lesbians. Waste of women. They could be in my bed now, but no...no they are not....

Yes, it may encourage some others to 'come out' but at the end of the day, he is only another guy. In an ideal world, professional sportsmen/women wouldn't feel the need to come out publically, a point Hysen makes in the interview linked in the first post. Unfortunately we live in a world where their private life is plastered all over the papers. Imagine you're a professional footballer. Would you rather come out on your own terms, or wait until a paper ran with a story about how you were spotted popping out the Hoist in Vauxhall? Until it's a generally accepted part of the game that's going to be the case.
Jimothy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 Mark lawrence is gay. Not a lot of people know that. You mean Mark Lawrenson, as in Lawro? Pretty sure he's married with two kids.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 You mean Mark Lawrenson, as in Lawro? Pretty sure he's married with two kids. So was this chap...
Jimothy Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 So was this chap... Good point, but wasn't he gay in the days when it was illegal, so would have got married and suppressed his urges. Anyway point being Lawro isn't gay, just quite camp.
FoxyPV Posted 2 April 2011 Posted 2 April 2011 So was this chap... Big bonking Butch Oscar? Scourge of the ladies! He wasn't gay - just defamed by Massingbird-Massingbird's legal brilliance.
