shen Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Obviously Trump is hugely impressive at his age, but so were Hendry, O'Sullivan, Selby, Murphy and Ding when they had their breakthroughs. Hopefully he won't have shown his best already, but I doubt that he can be consistently succesful with his attacking and fearless style. Long may it continue though

Selby, Carter, Stevens and obviously White have all made finals and failed/failed so far, to go on and win it. Maguire, Allen, Perry, Fu to name four are players who have reached semi finals in recent years and never pushed on from that. EDIT: I'll add, same goes for golf and tennis, people always mention players who go close to winning, Henman, Murray, Rusedski, McIlroy, Westwood, Casey, Donald, Poulter, Montgomerie, Garcia etc and say they've not managed it this time but they will one day and will win numerous times, and they never do.
shen Posted 2 May 2011 Posted 2 May 2011 Fantastic end to the match and for Higgins to pull that off in such a situation is worthy of winning a match in itself. Higgins' doggedness and experience told throughout this championship. Always kept his cool and only got better towards the end of matches. The scenes at the end were very emotional and both players were very gracious. Looking forward to the next season now. Ding, Selby, Trump, Robertson sprinkled with Higgins, O'Sullivan, Williams and Hendry. All fantastic snooker players and highly entertaining to watch.
