Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Vitor was Sousa's signing so far as I'm aware, remember hearing that it was his contacts in Portugal that sealed it. Abe was quite clearly a Raksriaksorn signing. Doesn't change the fact that most of the rest of Sousa's signings were absolute dog though, with Moussa being the one bright spark among the Morenos and Lameys of the bunch.
Ruthless Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I felt at the time of his sacking, he should have been given more time, I think he'd have turned it around, when the takeover was complete, he'd have been less restricted in the transfer market, would have been able to get the players he wanted, and begin to build his team, there was many players he wanted that Mandaric wouldn't allow him to bring in, because Mandaric felt the wages were "too high", Lansbury for one. Its Mandaric we should blame for Sousa's failure at our Club, not Sousa, most managers would struggle to work with a pathetic budget which the Serb constantly proposed.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 WE WERE BOTTOM OF THE LEAUGE AFTER 9 GAMES & HAD CONCEDED 22 GOALS. THERE IS NO WAY HE WOULD OF GOT US PROMOTED WITH AN UNFIT TEAM OF LONG BALLERS TRYING TO PLAY PRETTY FOOTBALL.

It was cos of Mandaric, we were bottom, he wouldn't raise the budgets allowing Sousa to bring in the players that wouldn't have put us in that situation.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Moronic Gibberish. Tripe! Garbage! etc. etc.
ealingfox Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 There just isn't any way to make Leicester fans happy is there? Where would we be if Sven had had the pre-season and first 9 games? I was delighted when Sven took over, still am, fair enough we have bottled it when the league, at last from 2nd spot down was there for the taking, but that happens. Just look forward to the way our club is heading. Sven's record speaks for itself. When it comes to football management, he knows what he is doing. Now he has had a part-season in the Championship, I have faith that he will work out how to succeed in it with a full season.

Yea, Sven has done a great job I agree, but he wouldn't have done without reasonable financial backing from the Raksriaksorns, people forget Sousa was given a shoe string compared to Sven, if the takeover was completed as Sousa came in at the beginning of July, it would have been a completely different story and I believe Sousa would have got better results.

FoxyPV Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Anyone who thinks we were better off with Sousa needs their head checked. Sven has proven that he is the better manager over the course of the season (even taking into account the extra money he may have been given). Sousa may have been able to do a job for us eventually but at what cost? A relegation battle or even worse? He was just the wrong man at the wrong team at the wrong time.

This is what I've been saying, he joined at a time when we had an owner who was rediculously tight with finance and wanted the world regardless, was pissed off we didn't get promoted the previous season and wanted out. I think he will go on to do a brilliant job elsewhere, I can see him going back to Portugal in the summer as I think there will be a big change around with managers there, hence the rumours of FC Porto's boss Luis André Villas-Boas moving to a bigger club.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 No, Mandaric selling up and leaving is one of the best things that has happened to this club couldnt agree more. but without him we would have been screwed, he lead us to a series of chain events - for the better! relegation which led to pearson which led to leauge one champions which led to play offs which led to the club attracting thai owners which led to sven

Foxybeaver Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Abe and Vitor werent paulos signing they were the owners Sousa signed Vitor but Abe was the owners signing
ajthefox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 No doubt about it we're much better off now than what we would be under Sousa, but he definitely got a somewhat raw deal compared to Sven. If he had all season we wouldn't have done well but I really doubt we would've been relegated.
Dan Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Sousa was always going to fail here. He had a shit budget, to change a long ball side into a passing side. He succeeded at Swansea (to an extent) because he had no transition to make, they already played nice football under Martinez. He had a strong focus on passing football which I like, but other than that he offered us nothing defensively, or really attackingly. He was a disastrous manager, no fitness coach? Absolutely no organisation at all, he made a hard job nigh-on impossible. It was the wrong appointment from the start, it's so disappointing to think if this takeover had gone through only a month earlier we'd have probably still had Pearson and his staff team, with this kind of money at his disposal. I feel sorry for Sousa to an extent but being realistic, he was fvcking useless as manager, one of the worst we've had, shame but truth.
Ruthless Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 He had a shit budget, to change a long ball side into a passing side Exactly, Mandaric would not invest, if the owners had come in at the same time Sousa was appointed (beginning of July), he'd have been given a lot of cash to splash, signed quality players from England and Western Europe, we'd have played beautiful football, and been going up with QPR. Milan Mandaric is to blame for our failure to get promotion this season, ultimately it was him who accepted an approach for Nigel Pearson from Hull City - a manager who had guided us to our best position in seven years, it was him who replaced him with Paulo Sousa and ultimately it was him who gave Sousa shit financial resources to work with. I'm just glad he's gone, god help Sheffield Wednesday, thats all I can say.

Haydos Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 No, I've never been any more right on this forum, people just never look at the bigger picture. You're simplifying us not getting promotion down to one reason. Mandaric. And simultaneously claiming we'd be going up under Sousa (as if he wasn't incompetent) if only the owners had come in sooner. I'm not even going to bother any more.
