funkyrobot Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 There are hundreds and thousands of footballers to pick from. It's not like he's Christiano Ronaldo, he's a fairly average player that's fairly handy at this level. If we believe that Marlon King is the only way we can deliver results then Jesus Christ, I fear for next year. 100% agree!
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 WE.MUST.NOT.EMPLOY.REGISTERED.SEX.OFFENDERS!!! I would wee myself if I saw Bernie walking along chanting that.
Arkie Bennett Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 In these days of super injunctions, the general public has no idea what footballers get up to unless, like King, it's automatically in the public domain. We support and idolise players we often know next to nothing about. I heard King's impassioned interview with Victoria Derbyshire on 5 Live last August, when he was pleading his case to be given a fresh start. He came out with the inevitable stuff about being a bad lad, but a reformed character. I didn't think he sounded genuine. He came across as desperate for the income. He's a bully and a thug who had numerous chances to reform but didn't, and then expected football to give him a living as if nothing had happened. I'd like to think that the club has some moral substance, but if he becomes a City player, there's nothing I can do about it. I would feel let down, and although he played for my team I couldn't feel any affinity with him. I'd want him to do well, but only for the good of the club and the fans. I do think we can do better.
