The Year Of The Fox Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Doesn't anyone care? The last soldier to be involved in WW1 has died today. If you get chance to watch the news later, do. He died aged 110, lying about his age (14) to get in the navy. Don't make em like that anymore. Sorry I cant put a link up
jonthefox Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 He must have sat there sometimes and thought of the millions of men that passed before him and he was the only one left. weird indeed.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 5 May 2011 Author Posted 5 May 2011 Thanks. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning we will remember them
Head Honcho Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Sounds like he had an incredibly exciting life. Fair do's to the man. RIP
acooling08 Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Its a sad state of affairs in an age where this barey makes the news whereas Cheryl Cole going to the US X Factor has been covered by about every newspaper in the country.
Fosse Boy Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Posted it on another forum, must've forgot to do the same on here while I was at it. RIP.
NorthernFox Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Last of a generation that WE owe so much to. Glad he had a long and hopefully full life. Salute. RIP
Leicester_Loyal Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 RIP. The last remaining hero of the great bunch has finally passed away.
Darkon84 Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Its a sad state of affairs in an age where this barey makes the news whereas Cheryl Cole going to the US X Factor has been covered by about every newspaper in the country. Totally agree, its sickening. Rest easy hero, rest easy.
MikeyT Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Got to say, every post in here is absolutely spot on. What a man and what an incredible life he had. The last one from the Great War has now gone. Hopefully he is at peace. True hero.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 A truly great man, and a very sad day for the history books. I am sure that most of us lost relatives of some sort in the Great War, which still seems so close, but maybe now that little bit further back. I salute him, and all who fell, defending our country, and our freedom. R.I.P.
