Guest Col city fan Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 In two words: awesomely unpredictable! I agree.. And have said that of the loanees we have had this season PVA is the one I wouldn't want again.. He has potential of that I'm sure, but we really do need to get a settled side, with consistency running through the team. PVA (like kamara) in my opinion is either very good or pretty bad.. We don't need any more of that
cc_star Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 Reminds me more of Aaron Lennon than Ashley Cole Our defence is that unsteady, it's difficult to pick who's passable defensively and who's just quick & good on the ball PVA has a lack of defensive awareness that does regularly gift the opponents a chance on goal, he's not bad going forward, mainly because pace does frighten defenders but he doesn't really do anything measured, controlled or consistent - he can put one reasonable ball in to the box followed by 10 dreadful crosses, but we're not really a crossing team, we play lots of short balls, lots of off the ball runs with very quick, mobile players. I don't think he'd be greatly missed by too many people here after his mixed-bag time with us, but with a bit more defensive organisation from the management & coaching team, next season he really could be an asset.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 6 May 2011 Posted 6 May 2011 I suspect he needs time to mature. If he can improve his crossing, he could turn out to be a quality winger.
whenyouresmiling Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Lightning quick, decent touch and his passing's fine. His defensive side is his weakness, but isn't that fairly typical of young attack-minded full backs? (Bale and Cole for example) With regards to "his" twitter comment about going back to Newcastle, i believe that was made by a fake van Aanholt twit.
Number 6 Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I have seen a lot of people who aren't so bothered about having him back, but personally if we had the opportunity to sign him for a reasonable fee I think we'd be foolish to not take it. He certainly isn't the finished article yet, but A.Cole himself was a bit weak defensively at the start of his career. To have someone with the forward ability of PVA would be great. Hopefully with a settled back four, he would learn his role and pick up a little more on his defensive duties. Having PVA & Naughton at FBs has proved very helpful with creating chances, shown by our goal tally. They are definitely modern FBs.
ScouseFox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 Yesterday showed the great and the horrific sides of PVA, in the space of about 10 seconds. 2 assists, at either end. A ridiculous backpass attempt straight to Connor Wickham, gifting Ipswich a goal. Then a great move down his flank, which he started, got in behind, then hit a superb low cross allowing Kamnara to score. He'll definitely be vulnerable until he gets a bit more experience, but he'll get forward and assist goals as well.
Kilworthfox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 He is very quick, & he can take a decent direct freekick. Without his speed, I don't see any evidence that he would be a professional footballer.
