Newcaslte fan here......whats your view on Van aanholt?

Hi

Newcastle fan in peace here........firstly allow me to say despite being a big newcastle fan i follow lecister in the champiosnhip ,with them being my 'championship' team if you will........been impressed with some of svens signings and like players like yakubu, vassell, vitor, ricardo and the man ive came on here to get some info on.....Patrick Van Aanholt

He is of course a chelsea player on loan to you at leicster but as you may know he had a period on loan at newcastle last year while we where in the championship...............our current left back Jose Enrique is looking likely to leave us in the summer and where looking at replacement and Van Aanholt came to my attention after reports that he's said he'd be keen to come back on twitter

now, at newcastle he came in and looked good, but since then he's had games for chelsea's first team as well as a season in the championship with lecister

can anyone tell me how he's been as theres been reports that he would be keen to join newcastle and im keen to know how people think he's been at leicster

What is he like defensivley??? ...........out of position due to going forward a lot??

what is he like on the ball??

quick??

passing?

crossing??

can he defend?

thanks

He's rapid.

And apparently he has potential.

That's about it, really. Very mixed bag otherwise, he's very, very raw. Not going to pretend to be some excellent judge of a player who can predict his future, Chelski think highly of him apparently. Definitely not ready for the Premiership, though.

thanks for that mate...........ive seen him be very good on the ball but out of position a lot at times (due to him going forward so much as an attacking wing back)

Yeah, he's good going forward, infact, really good. But defensively, he's not the best.

I'd like to see him as a winger.

Not seen a great deal of him. Clearly got ability but also very frustrating. I get the impression he has quite a high opinion of himself tbh.

He's a 50/50 player... sometimes he plays brilliantly well defends well and attacks immaculate BUT on some days hes lazy when defending and makes serious errors and lets the team down and can be useless going up front losing the ball and putting it out of play and coming out of position. But hes a decent player and still very young but has alot to learn

He's been saying he wants to stay here.

i'd take your word for it mate, im just keen to know what he's been like as like ive said theres been some lads on the newcastle forum following his twitter and reading he's keen to come back if enrique leaves

What is he like defensivley???

Steady enough, although he seems a bit lightweight.

out of position due to going forward a lot??

Sometimes yes, but his pace can usually get him out of poor situations.

what is he like on the ball??

Decent, shown some nice touches, more skills of a winger than a defender.

quick??

Very.

passing?

Haven't seen him give it away often really.

crossing??

When he gets behind the opposition full backs he can whip in a great ball, but crossing from deep could be improved.

can he defend?

Not brilliantly, to be honest.

thanks

have seen him on twitter recently, talking to danny simpson alot and constantly asking what its like up there etc. he posted something to danny simpson saying something like 'cya soon' and danny simpson said 'verry soon' but i didnt think much of it, could know something we dont or just planning a night out, does seem a bit suspicious though.

quick??

Very.

crossing??

Shocking.

can he defend?

Always caught out of position.

He's only young and unexpereinced hence why he's always out of position and his crossing isnt too great but he has lots of potential and his work rate is incredible.

needs to work on his final ball and his positional awarness because he sometimes does leave his man or go forward when not needed, sometimes guity of not closing his man down quick enough or standing off his man and letting him get the cross in but has the potential to be good.

wouldnt say ready for the prem yet as he has struggled at times this season, but could work with a solid, stable other 3 defenders.

thanks for all this guys, ..........mixed report so far really, seems to have talent but a bit raw by the sounds of it

not being biased but our LB enrique is superb positionally, strong as an ox and barely any goals come down his side............i fear if van aanholt was his replcament we'd be vulnerable, but as cover i'd be delighted

I think with a settled back four, and understanding between him and his centre halves he'd be better because he'd know when to bomb on and when to hang back etc. and with an experienced head like Coloccini next to him telling him what to do, he'd improve. But still not a Premier League player, not yet, anyway.

you could be right mate...........coloccini is one hell of a player and imo genuinly one of the best CB's in the prem........his experience would help hugely

In the majority of his games we he has been poor.

Spends too much time out of position, and certainly isnt the best defensively. His crosses are often hit too long or short, and he is far from the best left back we have ahd here this season.

Posted

think the easiest way of answering this is as follows, we have many loan players here this season. pva is not at the top of my list of ones i would like to keep. would much rather our efforts be centered on signing Mee or Cunningham for the left back position.

Supports the attack really well, but is often struggling defensively.

His final ball is a mixed bag, sometimes wayward, other times effective (see goal v Burnley).

Can be. He likes to get forward and will look to use his pace to help himself recover at the back

what is he like on the ball??

Reasonably good

quick??

Lots of pace

passing?

Pretty basic, short passing game. Nothing wrong with that at all

crossing??

Extremely poor in my opinion.

can he defend?

Not to the standard i would expect from a young Chelsea youthteam graduate. Very much a Roberto Carlos, doesnt put defending at the top of his list and can be very naive at the back in my opinion.

I would also add that of the two loanee left backs weve had here this season, i much preferred Greg Cunningham who now sadly has a long term injury. His all round play was superior to Patrick's for me. I would also say that Patrick has a somewhat arrogant streak to him, and not in a good way either

He's possibly welcoming a move to either side, if first team football is what he wants!

He is very quick, obviously pace is something that Sven likes and we all need. Thats a good attribute for starters. His crossing is good, he has put some great balls into the box this season. His biggest downfall is that he'll go forward and then not come back or be slower coming back than what he was going forward.

Van Aanholt certainly has the potential to go far. I'm sure that he's the third choice at Chelsea though, because Bertrand will most probably get the opportunity to play left back ahead of Van Aanholt. However, they both do have a great left back to look up to in Ashley Cole. His left foot is obviously very good, but he is also calm on his right foot as well, which is always an added bonus. The goal he scored against Burnley was with his right foot, and was certainly one of the more better goals we have seen this season.

If I was Sven, I'd certainly be looking at getting Van Aanholt in at left back again next season, either on loan or actually via buying him. I don't rate him as high as Greg Cunningham, but Van Aanholt certainly has the potential and I have to admit I do like the footballer.

Firstly, IMO PVA is far better than cunningham. He made too many defensive errors, though as have many of our young loan signings this season.

Anyway he's quick! Defending isn't the best, his crossing poor. Scored a superb goal against burnley but then should've scored easier goals at home to cov.

He gets caught out up the pitch quite a lot, and as already said, doesn't track back with as much enthusiasm.

Definately not as good as naughton on the other side in any aspect
