The Year Of The Fox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 Going away in october and im a bit unsure whether my passport is up to standard. At passport control at schipol a couple of years ago the bloke there scanned it twice and gave it a funny look. Theres nothing wrong with it, just a bit creased and the emblem on the front has faded off. Nothing wrong with it on the inside etc. Have people had any experience meaning they'd recommend I get a new one before I travel? Im only going spain and I have 4 years left on it! Thanks
jonthefox Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 As long as the photo's not obscured and the informations legible, you'll be fine. I went to amsterdam with a mate, and his passport was falling to bits. The guard just laughed and handed it back.
MPH Posted 10 May 2011 Posted 10 May 2011 living in the states right now and they are nororiously harsh on security. i accidently washed my passport in the washing machine - left it in the back pocket and although its in a very sorry state they can see the photo and they can scan it so they are fine with it. If they are ok with it ver here with stuff like that then i dont see your situation being a problem...
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2011 Author Posted 11 May 2011 Cheers all. I (stupidly) use it as my id when I go out, which is why its not in that good condition

Same here because I've always been too stubborn to pay for a new plastic license that I lost about a month after I got it 4 years ago It's nearly worn down on the front and one of the corners is a bit bent

bmt Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 I'm so glad I'm not the only one too stubborn to buy a new driving license and watching my passport slowly decay.
Samilktray Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Sending off for my new passport this week. What an ordeal the forms are
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 May 2011 Author Posted 11 May 2011 How much do they cost to replace? As opposed to renewing an expired one?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Sending off for my new passport this week. What an ordeal the forms are Try being an Aussie trying to obtain a british passport thru the ancestory rule when your mum only speak 3 months in Brittain, now that was hard work.
Winchester Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Try being an Aussie trying to obtain a british passport thru the ancestory rule when your mum only speak 3 months in Brittain, now that was hard work. I'm needing to renew my uk passport, as an american citizen with an english dad. I'm assuming aussies use the same form (c1)? Could you tell me how u answered question 3: 'have you been naturalised or registered as a citizen of the UK etc... or a British subject?' I would say yes, as I have a previous uk passport. It then asks for details for citizen documents. Would I use my previous passport as a citizen document? My Dad says yes. but he also thinks that if they don't like an answer they may make you re-apply and keep the money you sent in. Doh! Thanks
