Please help save Rushden & Diamonds FC

Recommended Posts

Sorry to bother you, but my local Blue Square Premier club Rushden & Diamonds is in a real crisis. To cut a long story short, we have 14 days to raise 250k to pay off our debts other wise that's probably the end of the club. If any Foxes fans can donate anything, this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks very much, Olly

Would the people of Rushden help save Corby town FC if they needed it? .. answer that and you'll have my answer.

Well yes some would, I personally would as well, its times like this that any rivalries (although Rushden-Corby is hardly a rivalry) go out of the window, no one wants to see a club go bust even if it was a rival or a disliked team surely?

I don't dislike you personally or your club but the arseholes that i've put up with from Rushden over the years slagging off Corby I'm afraid I cant see past that

Edit: awaits generic pops at Corby from other posters.

Another example of a club who's fortunes were grossly inflated by a wealthy benefactor who pulled the plug leaving them high and dry.

LCFC fans take note before we all get too carried away.

Everything in moderation.

Granted to be in the Premier League would not be grossly inflating our fortunes, but we dont want to be saddled with a sack load of debt that we cant cover if the Thais ever did get bored or skint.

I always thought the rivalry was between Corby and Kettering?

Yeah Corby call Kettering sheepshaggers while Corby is just a plastic jock filled skag hole!!

Kettering v Diamonds is the big Northants derby

And no Lister Rothwell is a town not a village!!!

Anywhere south of the Welland is full of wrong'uns as far as I'm concerned.

Also would imagine Kettering v Northampton would be the biggest derby if it ever happened?

I'm sure you can deal with any slights against Corby, safe in the knowledge that you have nicely pressed trousers and a wealth of toy discast cars?

Am surprised you know where Welland is Fosse Boy!!!!! Try coming over this way and you might find we are more intelligent than you think!!!!!!

I think there'd still be more needle in Kettering vs Direones / Northampton vs Direones than Kettering vs Northampton; simply due to the way that Direones came about.

I don't particulary have any sympathy with them, they've been loving Kettering struggling both financially and with the ground situation for a fair old while now.

That said, it'd be a shame if they went out of business all together as I think the rivalry would be missed.

Edit - Oh,and as for Corby lol

All about the beautiful northern half of town.

Not sure why it surprises you given I've spent the majority of my life on its banks! I'll pass no comment on the intelligence of the average Harborian though .

I've submitted that link to Reddit. It's already made the front page on r/Soccer. They love a good cause over there. Hopefully this will generate more interest over the internet.

Football's a cyclic sport.

Considering R&D's formation and financial outlay, it's ironic that they have came to this.

Anyways, I've been (sort of) a R&D v Ketfering derby...problem was my Dad didn't know it was all-ticket, so we didn't get in.

Been Rothwell Town with it's enormous slope. There was no warm grub available which nearly set off riot with the Burton fans.

Looks like the club could be going into liquidation today unfortunately. They were awaiting a proposed takeover by Glenn Hoddle (who was going to use the club as a feeder club for his academy).....doesn't seem to have come off....and given they dont own their ground and have no way to pay back creditors......sad times.
