the_fosse Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 Heavy rumours involving Emile Heskey and Leicester City could lead to a heavy strike force. Heskey and Yakubu could be some force in the English Championship, here's why: http://sportales.com/soccer/heskey-the-compromise/
Leicester_Loyal Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 Great article, so true. Yak + Heskey + King + A better goalkeeper and we're top 2!
topharry123 Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 Like it a lot. I hate it when people go on that Heskey doesn't score and we need a goal scorer. He has always been good at providing support for another kind of striker and it would be great to see the two of them together. It's a partnership that looking at them you wouldn't think it will work, but I bet it would do to tremendous effect. Get 'em both !!
ajthefox Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 You ask any striker who’s played with the big man who they most enjoyed playing with and who they benefited from the most. Nine out of ten will tell you that the former Ratby and Groby youngster Emile Heskey is that man Did you write the article? If so I'd like to know what you've based this on...
stix Posted 20 May 2011 Posted 20 May 2011 personally im not completely convinced. playing a 442, for me anyway needs at least one of them to have a decent amount of pace. Which neither of these have in abundance. Dont get me wrong, would love the yak back here on a perm, and would love Emile back here also, but as a pairing, for me anyway doesnt work. Would rather the yak with a Maynard/Defoe(example only!)/Long/chaser(that bags....not a Hume) type striker. a la Hernandes(z) if you like. If Emile & Yak were to be our front two they would both end up going for the same balls....to me they are both much better Steve Howards...in a way?!

I think if we had the two of them -which I would be quite happy to- we'd do well providing the rest of the team did but it's not the ideal partnership. Saying that, finding the perfect partner for the Yak in a 4-4-2, assuming there is a return on the cards would quite be difficult.

Agreed, the Yak seems to thrive on the fact that he is the main attraction, and not the provider. To be fair the lad bagged an avr of 1 in 2 in the end last season which is great. He is getting older though which may not make THAT much of a difference if he were to be here next season but that said, a younger(argueably better) striker is definately needed. The guy knows how to score and in my opinion would/could be a great mentor. Get Maynard in during the summer and the front two Yak & Maynard could(i know...all speculation & conjecture!) be devastating.
Nick Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Never mind can we get both...... can we get either of them?

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 As I said before, it WILL be The Yak, and Heskey next season.
Haydos Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 As I said before, it WILL be The Yak, and Heskey next season. Who else we signing pal?
Nick Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 As I said before, it WILL be The Yak, and Heskey next season. I have to ask DT - based on what? If either of these players are available for a couple of million each and a lower end Prem club comes knocking with 45K a week wages for em and 1st team football, I'm not sure we'd have the same 'pull' I hope you are right - just would like to know what you are basing this on.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 Surely we've no guarantee of either Yak or Heskey - Mid-Bottom PL teams will have also noticed both - surely they'd both go there ahead of us? Also to people saying if our fowards were : Yak/Heskey/Gallagher and we'd be sure to finish top 2 - well we scored a lot of goals this season but it was irrelevant due to our poor defence and weak midfield (by weak i mean physically - other than that they're great) Plus we've got good teams coming down from the PL. On top of established Championship teams like: Leeds, Forest, Reading, Swansea, Cardiff
ajthefox Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 I imagine we've got as good a chance as anyone to sign both of them. The Yak has said he'd like to make it permanent already and chances are if it's 2mil Everton want we can afford to pay that. With Heskey I can't really envisage the wages being a massive part. If he wants to return he won't be doing it for the money. Having said that I'd bet heavily against Heskey being here next season. The only reason he is being linked is because he said it's possible in the future, thats it. DT's claim that 'we WILL' have both is just pure speculation no doubt.
dannythefox Posted 21 May 2011 Posted 21 May 2011 There is no way on this planet we will have King, Yak and Heskey! You defo dont want Heskey and Yak as the two strikers if you play any of them you need someone whos going to run for the ball playing along side them. Heskey and Yak are both lazy.

You might as well have not included King in that since he's our player... That aside, calling Heskey lazy is harsh. He isn't fast and as I previously stated he wouldn't be the best partner for the Yak, but lazy he definitely is not.

Guest Col city fan Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Certainly wouldn't play Emile and Yak together. A pacy striker with either one of them would be a better compliment. The team needs pace in it IMO. A lack of pace up top has been sorely lacking this season. I'd go for Yak over Heskey and would still like to see McKail-Smith at City.
tomtom Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Heskey is lazy?...**** off is he! But if it came down to a single choice we need to get the Yak
