Bert Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Nah - I saw that team sheet and new we didn't have striker to deliver goals even on his best form. I realise he has a role in a Heskey esque model - but he's not good enough for this division anymore - it's all about mobility and he hasn't got any anymore. Sorry. Yip. The mobility he lacks which he still tries to apply just leads to him giving fouls away.
Haydos Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Nobody has suggested at any point that he still cuts it....
Nick Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Nobody has suggested at any point that he still cuts it.... And I didn't suggest he had a bad game, I said that looking at the team sheet and seeing his name, we knew that we didn't have the firepower to win it........ You then started with all the aggressive ' take off the blinkers' swagger. You're taking my post out of context

I'm not sure how you can say you knew we couldn't win it when we all but did and he was our most effective player.

You don't need hindsight to look at that team sheet to see we didn't have enough firepower. You've taken an idle comment out of context, made a retort that implies that I am blinkered and knowledge-less and you are still continuing to push a bad position because you can't back down.

I didn't think you'd be so defensive about it. Before the game I think I remember feeling similar to you but "Yeah he backed into them, bullied them, fell over, made a real nuisance of himself. One might say he played with Pashun." is cheap and an ungrateful dig at a guy that was key in almost getting us to the play off final. Fair enough, you don't think he should have started but your other posts suggest he then went on to play awfully.

I can't tell if you are waving or drowning. I can tell you that nobody can rescue you from the deep water in this thread that you belly-flopped into.

Your point was that you knew we wouldn't cause them problems with him in the team..........yet......we did. Here you go... I'm hilarious, right?

Look at my original post and show me the words 'knew that Howard wouldn't cause problems' I'm letting this drop now as you are just making a dick of yourself. You started with a shitty tone and you shouldn't have.

You started with a shitty tone and you shouldn't have. That's semantics. IMO "you knew you were in trouble before kick off" is no different unless you're being pedantic about it. And started with a shitty tone? It wasn't meant to be aggressive, I don't get kicks of winding people up on a forum. I still don't understand your feelings about that game but I'm perfectly happy to drop it as well. Apologies if you thought I was being a dick.
MC Prussian Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Can I just say that the better team won yesterday? Barcelona can depend on their academy - some of these players know each other since they were kids. What other team in the world puts such an emphasis on bringing your very own players through the ranks? Like Nick already mentioned, a win for football.
Finnegan Posted 30 May 2011 Posted 30 May 2011 I noticed last night that the key to them getting the ball back so quick is due to their passing style. They play short passing, which means the players are closer to each other, so when they've not got the ball, they've normally got 2, 3 players crowding out one player putting them under huge pressure. Then as soon as they've got the ball back they've instantly got options available. That coupled with the act they don't really play particularly long passes so even if something is intercepted they've never got a player very far away from the ball if it's lost.
