Haydos Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Very nice gesture letting Abidal life the trophy, absolute hero in my eyes. Massive massive respect for the man. Obviously agree 100%. Great gesture and huge respect for the guy. What a boss.
Ashley Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 I posted this on my facebook a few minutes ago. Abidal to lift the Champions League trophy after all he's been through this year absolute quality! Fair play Mr Abdial I admire your spirt and determination. This Barcelona team will probably be the best footballing team of our generation they are quailty. That's how football should be played.
Austin Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Great gesture with Abidal .. Best team i've ever seen play.

Kent Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Why is Gary Neville such a willy puller? Talking about how styles go in cycles and at the minute the short passing game is the most effective (using the phrase 'team full of midgets' in the process). Also said that Barcelona haven't had any major injuries in the last few years and thats contributed to their success. So basically, they're lucky that at the minute their style of play is 'in' and that they haven't had any players out? Okay Gary, prlck.

Yeah, wise words Gary.
Austin Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 I take it a stomach tumor isn't a major injury then? Yeah, wise words Gary. Gary Neville always has and always will be a tosser.

Father Ted Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Ferguson was tactically inept tonight. And busquets getting the ball in his face in 1st minute
The Doctor Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Ferguson was tactically inept tonight. And busquets getting the ball in his face in 1st minute well he wasn't, fabio and valencia aside the team was fine - barca were just a different class.
Sly Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Greatest team ever .... Potentially yes. I'd love to have seen them play against the Real Madrid team that had Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo at it's prime.
Sly Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Obviously this won't ever happen as different generation. Can't believe Neville tipped out midget .... Isn't that upsetting to people who are vertically challenged?
AjcW Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Ferguson was tactically inept tonight. Leaving the top scorer in the best league in the world out of the squad and playing a kid at right back.... I'd say for once mate your spot on!... and he never once got up in the second half, resigned to an inevitable defeat... The Villa goal was beautiful all round... although credit to the Rooney goal, a fab team move! Very glad obviously that barca won, very much deserved! And thankfully, an entertaining final!!
Jon the Hat Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Is it just me, or in fact do United STILL not have more than one on a good day World class player? The fact that the midfielders on the bench are as good as those on the pitch is not actually a sign of a great team, only a good squad.

The fact that the midfielders on the bench are as good as those on the pitch is not actually a sign of a great team, only a good squad. I'd say that they've got arguably the best 18-man squad but not necessarily the strongest 11 in the PL which helps them to be consistent over a season and could explain why they struggled tonight despite winning the league fairly comfortably in the end.

Surely that had more to do with Chelsea's capitulation?
Kent Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Surely that had more to do with Chelsea's capitulation? Well yeah but you could argue that Chelsea weren't as consistent due to a weaker bench, for example they seemed to be hit pretty hard when Lampard was out. Obviously there's a million and one other potential reasons (Ray Wilkins departure) but I'd definitely say that Man Utd have a strong squad as opposed to team.
Brown Fox Posted 28 May 2011 Posted 28 May 2011 Man U's central midfield was never ever going to deal with Barca today and that was where the game was lost. Carrick who is a passer and not much else was never going to keep tracking Messi, Xavi and Iniesta. Then with Giggs a 37 year old left midfielder playing centre mid. He didn't have the legs to keep up with them, and the only hope Man U would ever have had was if they had Fletcher fit, but even still their midfield wouldn't have been able to deal with them. Astounding really how Carrick has played an integral part in the Premiership champions when he is so so so average. Shows you how good Fergie is. Without Fergie this team would be nowhere.
martyn Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Fletcher should have been on for Carrick/Giggs at HT. Berbatov not on the bench also signals what Fergie thinks of him. Barca just far superior.
