The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2011 Author Posted 2 June 2011 Germany are very unhappy too, with Qatar getting the 2022 cup. They want it reawarded I think. But have you seen who the other bidders were?? South korea and japan, USA, and australia I think! So theres only perhaps australia who should feel hard done to perhaps
Winchester Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Germany are very unhappy too, with Qatar getting the 2022 cup. They want it reawarded I think. But have you seen who the other bidders were?? South korea and japan, USA, and australia I think! So theres only perhaps australia who should feel hard done to perhaps Yeah, no way SK & Japan should get it again so soon. USA would easily be the most commercially successful and could count as a 'growing fan base', but they had it relatively recently and Brazil being in the same time zone too. Australia undoubtedly could host such an event. Australia itself is a growing market for football and it's a good time zone for broadcasting matches in Asia and Africa - arguably the major areas with most potential for expansion of the game. Oz should defintely have won it, or at least been a lot closer to winning it ....that's why it looks so fishy.
purpleronnie Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Aussies should host it, they'd do a great job and I'm sure it would boost 'soccer' in that country just like it did in the US.
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Aussies should host it, they'd do a great job and I'm sure it would boost 'soccer' in that country just like it did in the US. For sure.. The Aussies would have made a great world cup, just like they did with the Olympics a few years back..
Ozwin Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 The Aussie Olympics were awesome. Watching events at 7am getting ready for school was immense.
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 The Aussie Olympics were awesome. Watching events at 7am getting ready for school was immense. ditto the South Korea/Japan World cup in 2002 - having the first lesson cancelled to watch england v brazil was spectacular.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Jack warner has quit! Hooray Resigns "with the presumption of innocence". Yeah Sepp, I love your transparent new FIFA.
shen Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Resigns "with the presumption of innocence". Yeah Sepp, I love your transparent new FIFA. I don't get it. If the allegations are true, he's a criminal. He can get away with it by just quitting his job? How?
Fosse Boy Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 I don't get it. If the allegations are true, he's a criminal. He can get away with it by just quitting his job? How? Factuality Is Fuck All Welcome to FIFA. We are above the law.
Guest ttfn Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Resigns "with the presumption of innocence". Yeah Sepp, I love your transparent new FIFA. I think I posted before that I no longer have the energy to get angry or upset about it. They have gone so far beyond taking the piss it's unreal. And nobody outside this country seems to care.
accessory Posted 20 June 2011 Posted 20 June 2011 Our FA isn't exactly squeaky-clean though. Remember how they ignored Leicester as a venue in the World Cup bid, and went for the franchise instead?
Guest ttfn Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 Our FA isn't exactly squeaky-clean though. Remember how they ignored Leicester as a venue in the World Cup bid, and went for the franchise instead? What does that have to do with FIFA? Two wrongs don't make a right. The level of alleged corruption within the FA is completely insignificant in comparison with FIFA.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 21 June 2011 Author Posted 21 June 2011 Its not-as I posted on this thread before, last october the fa agreed to a friendly in thailand this june, which was then cancelled after the voting results for 2018 and 2022
Guest ttfn Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 Its not-as I posted on this thread before, last october the fa agreed to a friendly in thailand this june, which was then cancelled after the voting results for 2018 and 2022 It is arguable that that is corrupt. Some would argue it is politics. The FA was campaigning on a pledge to give football back to the world. The bid fell through, so why bother? To compare that to what has gone on at FIFA is absurd. The two organisations aren't even playing the same sport, let alone in the same league.
