They're as bent as the day is long mate. Somehow I imagine it will all get swept under the carpet and nothing will be done.

If you enjoyed the Panorama program you should have a read of 'Foul' by Andrew Jennings. It's a good read and you'll see what a bunch of corrupt, self serving pigs they are.

Il bear that in mind.

Why then with all this controversey, rumours, and in some aspects concerning the ISL and panorama, absolute proof is nothing done?

I really commend the FA for once, when they say they will not be voting for the next FIFA President.

Blatter, warner, and the south american bloke have done a great job in building their own nests.

Lord Triesmann claims that thailand wanted a friendly with england in june. I'm not sure how many fans outside the england members club were aware that last autumn, it was announced on the FA websites that a friendly had indeed been arranged. Lots of fans booked flights over there- as there were only 2 possible dates the game couldve been played.

Less than a week after the results of who'd won the bids, it was then announced that the game in thailand had been cancelled! So its possible that the FA are just as bad in all this

Good.

I doubt it'll change much though, corruption and back room deals are endemic at FIFA. Personally I'd prefer to see the whole thing dismantled and start again under a new game with people who actually care about the game, but there's more chance of San Marino winning an England hosted World Cup than that happening.

i wouldn't be so sure about that:

the major forces in europe hold the cards in terms of football - FIFA have already pissed off england with the 2018 world cup, If they were to piss off the french, spanish, italians and germans then the power those 5 hold could easily bring FIFA to it's knees should they make any sort of threat towards FIFA.

Sounds like warner and the bloke standing for president against blatter could be in trouble after fresh allegations according to 5live

The politics of Fifa makes our MPs look like saints. There's been allegations against Warner for years and Bin Hammam's come to the forefront with the Qatar bid. It's all been fine until Bin Hammam stood against Blatter. Now suddenly the allegations surface and an investigation is to be launched.

I'm pretty sure that if Blatter was standing unelected, then none of these allegations would see the light of day.

I don't know why the football associations of the major countries don't pull out of Fifa and tell them to go whistle.

I'm surprised this isn't a more active topic. The FA and FIFA being corrupt is hardly newsworthy in itself, but all sorts of stuff is happening now. Apparently Bin Hammam is not withdrawing his candidacy for president which is quite a significant turn of events. And what are the investigations into Blatter's involvement going to lead to?

Sod all I would expect - the investigation is triggered as a matter of policy and as another matter of policy will be dealt with in the same way it always is.

These bodies do not represent football anymore, they represent the politics of football - politics which are in the best interests of their own agencies rather than the people those agencies should serve.

Probably because you then end up with two governing bodies as you do in most crap sports- rugby wrestling and darts for example

You not liking Rugby doesn't make it crap.

Maybe you're right. But it's still the most interesting and potentially good thing to happen to the football governing body.

Who wants a bet that nothing comes out of this?

Well something has happened now that Bin Hamman has withdrawn his candidacy :dunno:

It's already being posited by at least one individual now which could make life interesting.

You're quite right to say as well that a handful of major organisations withdrawing from FIFA could bring it to its knees. England, Germany, France and Spain forming their own breakaway association could be like when the big English clubs broke away from the Football League to form the Premiership, and we all know how that's worked out. The FL and FA now have precious little say in how the English game is run, and the same could in theory happen to FIFA if they don't stop irritating the major nations.

I'd still have a fairly sizeable bet that it doesn't come off though.

Just started watching the Panorama and it just frustrates me so much.

The fact that Qatar has a world cup and we don't it's just abserd.

Ughh, and how they can just stand there, guilty as fvck, and just ignore the questions and palm them off.

I know of somebody who lives and works out there. He said they knew before the announcement. I asked him why he thought that, he said that there were organised parties and firework displays that cost thousands set up everywhere and that the news had already filtered down in certain circles that it was 'in the bag' - he has some quite wealthy connections because of his business............

Whilst we were hopeful with an air of confidence - they were planning the celebration party prior to the vote.
