Only managed to catch the last 15 minutes of the England U21's who won 3-1 tonight - O'Neil looked good on the ball and got stuck in. Played centre midfield with Reo Coker.

I really hope we get him because what ive seen of him is brilliant. :)

I think he's right sided.

Perhaps this is in light of Scowcroft leaving then?

"There's no way I could let Gary go on loan at the moment," said Redknapp. "I haven't got enough players.

"But if we get someone in, it's something we could do. I think it would do him good."

someone like scowy? :P

Predictably, it took the new look England side some time to gel but Taylor’s new skipper Gary O’Neil was a steadying influence in midfield.

Just read on Sky Sports O'Neil is set to start in the Portsmouth team tomorrow. So thats the end of that link :(

Why? Once Pompey get Bassinas in and get a few players back from injury then they will let him go on loan.

Even if they do get Bassinas, they will still need midfield cover on the bench, and O'Neil would provide that.

They have Eyal Berkovic, Amdy Faye, Kevin Harper, Richard Hughes, Nigel Quashie, Patrick Berger and Steve Stone who can all play in midfield.

Only Quasie, Hughes and Faye can play in the centre though - All the others are wide players or Attacking midfielders who play in the hole. I think Faye is injured for a few months.

Decent player he is whenever i've seen him play. Surely he cant be bringing him in to play central midfield though? We got 3 players good enough for that position and 1 shit one. Best be right sided but i think he's left sided..

Who are the three players who are good enough then? If you are referring to Gujohnsson I think you must be having a laugh. I know it was only a friendly but his devut against East Bengal was embarassing. He can't pass the ball!! He shoots when we need ball retention and has no physical resence.

Yes, it was a friendly.

When he has come on as sub (I went to both Millwall and Derby) he's looked quite impressive. Good usage of the ball in those games.

I'll give him time, but will not be pushing for him to play.
