MPH Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 ....the last Vulcan flying over my house! What a machine! I remember when i was a kid i was in my grandmas back yard... it scared me so much... it completely filled the sky.... ( to me it did anyway) Just a fantastic plane.... it felt kind of like the opening scene of star wars... i mean i was a kid at the time....
stix Posted 3 July 2011 Author Posted 3 July 2011 Awesome bit of kit. They raised over half a million quid in 5 days to keep it up and running. Thats some going!!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Yeah it's the Waddington International Airshow this weekend. That's where it'll be going/been to.
Alexikokopops Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I went to visit my parents in Lincolnshire and a Lancaster bomber flew over the car. I got a little bit excited. Yeah it's the Waddington International Airshow this weekend. That's where it'll be going/been to. I once accidentally but RAF Waddington on full alert when I was working as a binman. Whoops.
AoWW Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 awww, takes me back to when I was ickle. These regularly used to fly over my house when we lived in Lincolnshire.
MikeyT Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I was at a 1940's day yesterday in Burton Upon Trent and they had a Spitfire fly over and do a few tricks. Lovely old plane. Tried to get some shots but my lense isn't that good for zooming.

Alexikokopops Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 How dya manage to do that?! I was in a box van with another guy and we were going to pick up a missed bin. We pulled up to the barrier at the entrance but couldn't find the job ticket (which we needed to be allowed in). The guard on the gate let us pull in past the barrier to a layby to look for it so we didn't hold up the traffic. In the end we couldn't find it so just turned around and drove out. Turned out the guard who let us in didn't see us drive out and they had everyone out searching for a North Kesteven District Council box van. Whoops.

samjohnson Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 About 3 years back, my class was doing a car wash thing to make money for some project or other. Anywho, we had the Red Arrows fly about 20 feet above where we were... Fantastic sight
AdamN Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 The Vulcan is down to fly at the Victory Show in Cosby (on the Sunday only, I believe) for anyone who wants to go and see her up close. For anyone unaware of the event: http://www.thevictoryshow.co.uk/

The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I was climbing up pen y fan a few years ago in the brecon beacons. We got to a bit called jacobs ladder (very steep part of the climb) close to the top. I fukin shat myself when two harriers (i think they were) came above us and slightly to the side. Had they had been going slower we'd have seen the pilots faces they were that close
FoxyPV Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 We used to see army helicopters all the time when we were younger. It took about 6months to get used to the silence after the ceasefire.
Itsthejoeker Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I was playing a cricket match in lechlade while the RAF air tattoo was on. We were getting little fly passes from red arrows, swiss arrows etc was brilliant!
samjohnson Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 that's very close were you washing cars at the top of a skyscraper ? Not quite... They were showing off on the way to somewhere or other - I think it was like a day before an airshow somewhere
Zingari Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Not quite... They were showing off on the way to somewhere or other - I think it was like a day before an airshow somewhere they do come pretty close to the ground sometimes , i must admit i once saw them fly across the A43 near Northampton , and it scared the shite out of me
FoxesAreBlue Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 The red arrows flew over my house last summer, 4 went over initally at about 300ft (at a guess!) and then one flew over at I sh!t you not, about 100ft, the noise was like a bomb had gone off
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I was treated to half an hour in a Spitfire, for my birthday, fourteen years ago. We took off from Booker Air Park, and flew over High Wycombe. Just a pity we couldn't have shot it up a bit. A truly fantastic experience though.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 About two weeks ago saw two Apaches flying over South Wigston, very low and with nice big rocket pods on the side. Menacing.
Narborough_fox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I saw the red arrows at Silverstone may not sound special however only 8 of them were there and it was the first time they had ever flown with only 8 of them. One of the Pilots had broken his arm.
