It's a total contrast to whenever MON's contract got within a year of expiring we all went a bit mental and demanded the extension to it from the board etc. Just wondered what peoples thoughts are? His contract expires this summer......Surely we should be looking to actually extend this if we have a plan over the next 4-5 years of being an established premiership side? Makes it slightly more worrying that Euro 2012 happens as soon as its expires. Thoughts?

One of the major european clubs could be looking at him again. It's not a risk I'd want to let run down if we can do something about it now. If we don't go up though, I don't think he'd want to stay in the Championship again. Let alone he'll be on big wages so the owners may think about someone else. I hope he stays longer too obviously, just guessing at the reasoning behind it.
davieG Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 It's all down to money and making judgements on the potential of him being successful. A contract will only be of monetary value, if he is successful his stock will rise and if someone wants him bad enough and he wants to then he will no matter what contract he's on. On the other hand if he completely messes up and we've got him on a long expensive contract ...... The Thai's seem to know how to handle these things so I'm sure they've thought about it and have a strategy in mind.
