In what way are his signings average :frusty:

Nugent can be ok, and has potential, but after leaving Preston, he has not really been impressive

Peltier, a rookie who can be a good player, but not yet shown anything at Championship level

Schmeichel, left out by Mancini, played for Leeds and Notts County, and a young player, and not yet certain if he can be quality 46 games a season

Mills, has the potential, still young, and maybe a price of £ 2,5 million would have been reasonable, You could get fantastic players in almost any league in Europe for that kind of money, but a signing I believe in and the best one, but City have paid too much

Danns, a clever midfielder, but not been able to do a lot at Crystal Palace, and flopped at Birmingham

St Ledger, not really one that has made the headlines with relegated Preston North End

Michael Ball could turn out to be the best addition, and he has not played football for the last two years.

Sven is a great manager, but he needs time, and the signigns are avarage, and maybe a pressure of a promotion push will be too much on the players who have come in, none of them have never been part of a Championship promotion push and might need time to adjust, so please be patient and I am scared if anyone will try to axe Sven if we are not among the top 6 teams in the first three months. I rated Nigel Pearson highly and if he can win promotion with Hull this season with Hobbs and Fryatt in the team, then we will see who is right. Fryatt is good, so is Hobbs. and I can't really understand why young players like that is not getting a real chance. They can develope into good players, but were axed useless by Sven, if you see what prices he sold them for.

Iv just said that Holloway did it with Blackpool the season before last ....and however he managed it ....and lets face it nobody gave him a prayer before the start of that season ....he did'nt "need time"as you put it.....and the majority of his players were distinctly inferior to the players that Sven is bringing in !!!

Please, no one expected Ian Holloway to promote Blackpool, and noen of the players had the pressure on them. Holloway and also Howie at Palace a few years back, did something that was not expected and that is totally different from what is expected to happen at Leicester City FC.

Sven hasn't sorted the squad yet, he will need time, and that's what pre seasons for! And how can you judge a team before they've even played together?

Please !!! So now you've changed your tune from "needing players with experience of how to get promoted " and a "manager needing time" to that clap-trap above !!!!!!!!

Are you a real positive, optomistic LCFC fan who is right behind the Board ,Manager and players new and old ...OR ...are you the arch-type wet neck who likes the sound of his own blatherings ? The second one i fear !!!

City are in a mess at the moment, with too many players in the squad, a difficult man management situation and a lot of heads looking down, don't know why they are part of a pre-season campaign, with many of them probably out of the picture by end of August. The fact that players are getting paid maybe 3 to 4 times more than others is also a problem you can't just push under the carpet. I certainly hope that Sven has controll, because no one else has, or they don't know much about how you are getting a team running. Pearson did everything right at Leicester, and he had started something that made it ok to be part of a group. Sven has not yet seen that and the gaps in sallaries are huge, so things can start to slide. Peter Taylor made great errors in that department when he was in charge and it all ended in administration, so I just hope that everything will work out for City, but things are not 100 % right. Sven never wanted to work on Pearson's work, but as so many former England managers and people that doesn't have to worry about those things. A squad of players feeling under payed or players knowing that they are ower payed and may sitting on the bench for one youngster that earns 3 to 4 times less than you, is not easy to handle. But that can happen and the risk of trouble is huge

Are you giving us a report from Sweden or are you making it up? Which heads are down? All of them or just specific ones?

You are going to stay positive, yet your going to make up negativity?

If you could win awards for negativity, some of our fans would clean up! Give the team a chance before writing them off!

We might be spending big and the salaries are raising eyebrows but judge the man on results! To say Danns did nothing at Palace is just a joke. He was outstanding - ask any Palace fan. We paid over the odds for Mills but he's only 24 and will be a great leader for us.

I saw Peltier play a few times last season and he looks a quality right-back. He's quick and has ability on the ball. Not quite Naughton but good enough. Nugent is a very clever striker who does more than just bang in goals. I saw both Pompey games and he was top-notch in them. Routledge, if he comes, is quick and has skill to spare. Masilela is a high-class left-back from what i've seen of him for South Africa.

The squad is a bit bloated and Sven admits that. He' trying to get rid of some of them, although signing every left-back out there makes me wonder...

Anyway, give the team a few weeks to bed down and then we can see whether the transfer policy has been right. I have more than a sneaking suspicion that we'll be in the top three or four for most of the season, but my optimism overload has ended up causing me hurt in the past!

Up the City!

The difference in wage salaries could indeed be something certain players resent. Hopefully with svens man management it won't spiral out of control.

As for our players being premiership quality or not, well that doesn't bother me. We're playing io the championship next season you know! Lets worry about that if we get there!

A few thoughts....

1. We are going to be in a much better position this season that last.

2. Sven is a hugely experienced manager, has identified the last season's shortcoming was a lack of experience and is filling that void nicely.

3. Other clubs fans putting us down is just jealousy and they would all take the players we have signed with open arms.

4. If our owners want to play a little extra to secure the players Sven wants who are we to argue.

5. I'd much rather there was a positive plan in place with owners and manager not looking to stagnate than be in the situation we were a few years ago.

6. We are not finished in the transfer market yet and the crowing signings may still be to come.

7. With all this money spent it is a shit or bust situation the season so lets get behind Sven and the team and give them the best shot they have at making the Premier League.

Gallagher, Wellens & King all signed very lucrative deals last season whilst under Sven. They'll have no qualms about the salaries being paid as they are on similar. Waghorn was given a sweetener to sign for us on transfer deadline and Lloyd Dyer's 4 year deal will keep him more than appeh.

The fringe players like Howard and Berner may well resent this but then they'll not be happy due to not playing. Lads like Moussa and Schlupp are only just starting out in the game so they won't be expecting half a million a year.

Sven has made some shrewd purchases for players who know this league inside out and some of these are great friends. This will build a strong bond that's needed to get us out of this league. As of yet very few Premier League players have dropped down to The Championship this summer, so we've not missed out. We've stole a march on many rivals with our signings.

There's more to come as well and plenty to leave. I understand your apprehension in expecting promotion but we should have every right to be positive about next season under Eriksson.

Leicester City have done a number of signings this summer and the squad, as Sven himsself admits, is too big and a bit unbalanced. A number of our players are at the moment uncertaint about which position to be played in and the players we have signed, how good are they really. I myself rates the players City have signed highly, but are they still the quality needed to get a great run this season.

We have paid £ 5 million for Matthew Mills, believe this is too much to splash out on a defender that has a releatively good past with Doncaster and Reading, but no he is not proven at Premier League level and the price is high. Kasper Scmeichel is another good goalkeeepr, but is he a lot better than Chris Weale, who we signed on a free from Bristol City. Lee Peltier, is a young talented player who have been with Huddersfield, unproved at Championship level and signed for a 7 figure fee. David Nugent scored 14 goals last season in 48 games, not really impressive and Neil Danns, played most of the season in a relegation fight with Crystal Palace, never managed to convnce anyone he was Premier League standard while at Birmingham. The last player to have signed, Sean St Ledger, played in a struggling Preston side last season and they went down to league 1.

Jack Hobbs is gone and Hull payed £ 800 000 for him, I hope for Sven and his group that they will get of with a flyer, but we are still missing that goalscoring power up front, we lack power in midfield, and I just cannot see that the amount of money used is really getting the quality we need to get straight up. Newcastle looked much stronger when they won promotion, and the side West Ham will field this season is at this moment on another level. If City have done much more than other clubs, or just paid over the moon for ordinary players is of coures a question to ask.

I will stay positive, but looking into the stats and the way and where these players played last season, we have to wait and see, before the big bell is ringing. Hopefully Sven knows the quality and we can be calm and hopefull for a great run toward promotion ?

Sensible post.. :)

Hobbs and Fryatt could have stayed. At least Hoobs seemed willing because he was nearly desperate to get a goal when playing. But I presume they went because Sven couldn't promise them the playing time they wanted and Pearson exploited it.

The players Sven bought has a chance to develop their game with better surroundings. Sven will have quality in every position and it will be a lot of space for every player.

Swansea had a long run of great seasons in the Championship before they finally went up, with experienced players at Championship level. They had been up there for many seasons.

Have we, in Nugent, St Ledger, Mills, Danns and Konchesky not just signed players with plenty of Championship and Premier League experience?

And anyway, we've just had three decent seasons, two very good.

It's not as though the club is currently on a downward spiral.

Just because a player is playing for a team down near the bottom or has a past of playing for league 1 or poor championship sides dont mean he aint a good player

Nugent scored 14 goals in a Portsmouth side that had hardly any subs and were scrapping for points most of the season which IMO is preety decent and he has already proven he can score goals when he was with Preston. I think the players we have signed so far are good solid players and we can look forward to an exciting season ahead :scarf:

QPR walked the division last year after signing proven if not exciting Championship players. Danns, Schmeichel, Nugent, Mills, St. Ledger all fall in to this category...they are sensible buys and crucially they are the right age. Added to that a lot of them have played with or are friends with each other and/or current members of the squad which should benefit team spirit.

Pearson did a great job for us and I was dissapointed to see Fryatt and hobbs go as they did well for us under NP. However we must move on and we are replacing them with players of better quality and that is the most important thing. We are assembling a really strong squad and aside from West Ham I cannot see anyone else matching us on paper.

we need some positive thinking here. The problem last year was the defense and rotating system used at the back and the GK. We let far too many leaky goals. I would say with the defense we have now this is a great improvement. If we can gain another good quality consistant striker or use schlupp/waghorn (could be the suprise star next year) then we will have an all round strong team +squad Bearing in mind the Midfield is the same with the addition of Danns. If we had Sven from the start last year, chances are we would of made the top 6.If the team can gel asap, we will be in the top 6 and serious contenders for promotion. We have a world class manager, some say the best in the league... You only have to look at the bookies to see that the professionals are backing Leicester to be there come the end of the season. Having a big name is not the way, Bellamy never did it for Cardiff, neither did Yakubu for us (He is not a team player).

Agree with most of this .....especially the bit about Schlupp(all the required attributes). Danns will make a terrific difference in m/field as well, having strength, vision & quick feet !! I also agree that we need another good quality striker & i think Svengali will do his best to secure the right one & as you say ,not necessarily a "big name" proves successful !!

Two....perhaps three more players will be here over the next three weeks and then surely ,the premier league beckons !!!

We all hope and prey...... :sge:

The players that we have bought are at a high standard in the league that we are in, plus we have taken good players from opposition in our league which weakens them. also some are are prospects for the future so that when we get promotion we might not need to rebuy. it doesnt matter how much money we have people need to realise prem players wont come to us were not there yet. i dont understand what people think we are going to get and what they want. we need and have bought people to get us out of this league and that is the whole point of the next season, worry about the champions league when we accually get there.
