The globe is warming up, whether or not people are actually responsible for it or it's a natural ending to the ice age, I don't know but the cold hard facts are than Global warming is occurring.

The term global warming IMO indicates its caused by mankind. That's the bit I was referring to as bollocks. Sure the world may be warming, but its just a natural cycle of the earth. Hate the term carbon footprint as it made its way into the oxford dictionary, meaning the government are suceeding in brain washing everyone

How can "carbon footprint" be put into the dictionary when those two individual words are already there? Surely it's a phrase like, I dunno "night flight" or "Racing Car"

I guess it just shows how guillable most if the population are if The Oxford Dictionary see it important enough to put in as a separate entry. The government just create mass hysteria which to me is so embarassing. Firstly, they need to convince people global warming is mankinds doing. Secondly they need to then target the people who give a fuk. Do they really think I'm bothered about whether I fill my kettle to only the required level whilst our 'green recycling' is shipped off to China on a container ship?? The only reason I try and be 'energy efficient' is to save my gas and electric bills, not save the planet!

Can I just change it to "any use of statistics on a football forum to prove a point because invariably the person using them has no idea what they're doing and the statistics actually prove their point in no way whatsoever, resulting in 'Kokopops despairing about the state of humanity".

It all depends, as with anything, which side of the fence you want to sit on. There was an article in a paper a couple of months back that was talking about these scientists who'd done an experiment over a 10 year period to analyse global warming. They concluded that there was no difference in temperature. Obviously the experiment and the conclusions were a bit more detailed than my explanation, but that was the very general outline.

On the subject of global warming, Is the earth heating up - yes, Would it have done this anyway - possibly, are we accelerating the rate at which the earth warms - possibly. It is impossible for us to ascertain the effect of human activity on global warming. The only way we could find out for certain would be to have a second globe going under all the natural influences but devoid of human activity - something truly impossible.
