Finnegan Posted 14 August 2011 Author Posted 14 August 2011 Yes and we had a terrible side out last week as well. I'm not sure what you're trying to do with a "who's worse off" pissing contest. Should have won by thirty odd points with a rookie fly half, no recognized full back, a second (and in part third) string front row, a teenage winger and the star of Strictly Come Gavin? Give over, you're not that dense. The biggest flaw of Welsh rugby (and sport in general, really) is a complete and total lack of depth. It was less of an issue in the amateur era but these days, with the intense physicality of the sport and the inevitable injuries that come with it, we just don't have a selection pool deep enough with top class talent. It's inevitable that England will ultimately have a lot more strength in depth than ourselves. But you can bitch about your selection problems all you want, your issues are much deeper than that and that's not why you lost yesterday. You lost yesterday because Johnno is an inexperienced novice on the touchline, he may be a great motivator but he doesn't have a solution for beating the Southern hemisphere other than "stick it up our jumpers." You tried to use us as practice yesterday and fell embarrassingly short. You can't play that sort of game without much better penetration from your forwards and a far quicker grasp on the break down. I'd be seriously concerned about your WC unless Johnno finds his testes and lets you actually hit people, at pace, with your strong counter.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 All Blacks fans urged to abstain from sex in World Cup lead-up NZPA NEW Zealand fans will be urged to abstain from sex during the rugby World Cup in a campaign to be fronted by former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick. The campaign put the All Blacks at the centre of a new public relations controversy, the New Zealand Herald reported today. The New Zealand Rugby Union is understood to have been irritated by the supposedly humorous Telecom-backed campaign, although it supported it in a statement last night. "Abstain for the All Blacks" would start next week and is being driven by the official All Blacks' fan site, BackingBlack which was sponsored by Telecom. The campaign asks fans to avoid sex during the World Cup to support the team. The campaign would be fronted by Fitzpatrick and those participating would get a black rubber finger-ring to show they had signed up for the campaign. Organisers hope the rings will galvanise fans the way Sir Peter Blake's red socks motivated fans for New Zealand's successful America's Cup yachting campaigns. A marketing man who knew of the campaign said Telecom's advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi, expected it to be controversial and he said it was "a bloody embarrassment. The rest of the world will take the piss out of us." The campaign will run in various media and posters urging fans to "Touch, pause and don't engage" would appear in bus shelters. Telecom director of marketing Kieren Cooney said the new campaign was intended to be "tongue-in-cheek" and was based on what they thought was New Zealand humour. NZRU commercial manager, Paul Dalton, was asked if the All Blacks would abstain from sex. He said their match preparations were not built around sponsors' advertising campaigns and the two should not be confused. .
Finnegan Posted 18 August 2011 Author Posted 18 August 2011 Fitzy. In other news, I have to admit I've not followed Super Rugby at all this season - but no Matt Giteau? The fuck is that about?
Darkon84 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 I started reading that and thought ''that could actually be a good idea, having the stadium filled with so much pent up frustration could actually create a great atmosphere, they could be on to something here.'' but no, its just a lame marketing ploy
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Fitzy. In other news, I have to admit I've not followed Super Rugby at all this season - but no Matt Giteau? The fuck is that about? Is an interesting one but hasn't had a good year. Also dropped Rocky Elsom as captain for Horwill good move in my opinion....Elsom needs to focus on keeping his spot in the team. I'm super stocked my fav player Nick Phipps got in the squad. 18 months ago he was playing reserve grade for a Sydney club side. 6 Months ago he was the 3rd half back for the Melbourne rebels started on the bench in the innagural Super 15 game for the rebels got on the pitch because of an early injury and never looked back. Won player of the year and was brilliant all season. Now he is in the WC squad massive achievement.
Finnegan Posted 18 August 2011 Author Posted 18 August 2011 Elsom wasn't a surprise at all, really. He couldn't retain his captaincy. But Giteau is the best utility back in the world and at the prime of his career. This should be HIS world cup.

But Giteau is the best utility back in the world and at the prime of his career. This should be HIS world cup. Not at the moment in poor form and doesn't deserve his spot, it's a WC can't pick people on what they have done in the past. Finners is Garth Delve any chance to make the final 30 for Wales? I think he should be picked especially having played super rugby this seasons will know the conditions better than most.
Finnegan Posted 21 August 2011 Author Posted 21 August 2011 I didn't mean so much in terms of his current form, but given his age and experience he should be in his theoretical peak - it's a shame and a disappointment to see he's been slacking this year! Love watching Giteau at his best. Delve has little chance, I'd imagine. Gatland has been trying to stick to his policy of picking from Welsh based players unless he has little choice, Powell and Faletau are both ahead of him at eight and of course then there's Ryan Jones if fit. As an aside, Ireland looking criminally bad at the moment. They're fortunate their group is pretty weak or they could be looking at serious early embarrassment.
FoxyPV Posted 21 August 2011 Posted 21 August 2011 Ireland was ****ing turgid last night. It was a joke. BOD made a rare error to allow France in for the first try. Then some serious ****ing about in the backline led to an interception and an easy try. The scoreline flattered us as the game was over by 60 minutes. We scored two late tries after the French stopped giving a shit. Keith Earls needs a slap. Ireland had a 4 on 3 on the wing at around the 60/65 minute and all that he had to do was give an easy, simple pass out to BOD for him to run in but he tried to pass it behind his back and it went out for a lineout. Hopefully the fact that we've lost all our warm up games will give the team the toe up the arse it needs before the RWC begins.
Finnegan Posted 26 August 2011 Author Posted 26 August 2011 Getting ridiculously excited now. Bit surprised Fitzgerald missed out on the Irish side.
Sparky Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 Getting ridiculously excited now. Bit surprised Fitzgerald missed out on the Irish side. I just thought he must be injured, quality player to leave out.

Finners you make all sorts of articulated arguments when it comes to social issues, whether people agree with them or not is another matter. But all rationality and sense goes way out the window for you when defender Welsh Sports and attacking the English teams too. Good win for England today IN Dublin and we are getting closer to getting our full side on the same pitch - always helpful. Nice to See Tuilagi make a late claim to force his way into the side...
Finnegan Posted 27 August 2011 Author Posted 27 August 2011 But all rationality and sense goes way out the window for you when defender Welsh Sports and attacking the English teams too. I'm sorry but that's just bollocks, to be honest. I'm obviously prone to bias, we all are (and I've definitely been prone to rose tinted specs in regards the Welsh football side) but I think I've always been pretty fair when it comes to English teams. What exactly in the post do you consider to be massively inaccurate and hugely biased, hmm? Instead of being a nob and just trying to get the public-opinion lulz by giving the big " " face at the resident Welshman, why not actually put together a riposte of some value? I said nothing that English analysts such as Guscott, Moore, Barnes, Morris and co' haven't about England. I suppose they're biased towards Wales as well?

Finnegan Posted 27 August 2011 Author Posted 27 August 2011 nope. you'll reel off a list of injuries and then someone else points things out about their teams they are quoting cliches and stuff. ... that doesn't make sense. How do you think those two things are connected, exactly? You tried to claim an understrength Wales side, weaker than the one that lost in Cardiff to England earlier in the year, should have won by some thirty odd points. And you want to question my "bias" because I'm telling you that's somewhat off the mark? You're effectively saying England's selection issues ARE a major factor but WALES' aren't? ... and you want to question my bias? Want to go and have a little rethink matey?
FoxyPV Posted 27 August 2011 Posted 27 August 2011 Ireland's fantastic run of form continues Bring on the WC.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Wallabies beat the Kiwis good form going in to the WC
Alexikokopops Posted 8 September 2011 Posted 8 September 2011 I'm trying to do a fantasy rugby thing. I haven't a clue about rugby. I've got Dan Carter in there, and Ashton because he's scored a few tries. Apart from the English papers banging on about Tuilagi I'm completely stumped HELP ME, ANYONE!!!!
Alexikokopops Posted 8 September 2011 Posted 8 September 2011 It's ok, I've got Castrogiavanna in my front row because he's ridiculously hairy and plays for Leicester. This selection process can't possibly go wrong...
Alexikokopops Posted 8 September 2011 Posted 8 September 2011 Team so far. It has been compiled from browsing various "ones to watch" lists and a very very limited knowledge (the England players, and the amusing hairy ones). I literally have no idea how bad this is, but I reckon I've got victory in the bag once I get my second Second Row sorted: FR: Castrogiovanni Franks Smit SR: Gray BR: Pocock Parisse Brussow SH: Youngs FH: Carter C: Tuilagi Smith OB: Beale Ashton Jane\ I haven't a clue

Job done. Victory is mine. Oh, and Finnegan, no Welsh players. This is what you get for not being online to help me pick.

Yep but you do realise he isn't in your team You have Kurtley Beale so you will be fine, i reckon he will be player of the tournament.....oh and he is a Rebels player Australia V NZ final with NZ to choke after being up by 10 points at some point in the first half.....you heard it here first.
