Finnegan Posted 18 September 2011 Author Posted 18 September 2011 Christ that could have been embarrassing. Why we can't play the same every game I've no idea. Oh well, just Fiji to do now and then we'll be on the way. The Irish result effectively cancels out our defeat to the Saffers, we end up with the quarter final we'd want anyway.

To be fair that game and the Fiji game is win at all bastard costs and your a victory against Ireland away from a semi final berth !! You'd have taken that !

Why would you want to play a team who'll beat you?
ScouseFox Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Why would you want to play a team who'll beat you? They don't really have much choice, they've got to play someone.
The Doctor Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Why would you want to play a team who'll beat you? I think I'm right in saying they can't possibly play Scotland in the next round, so have to face some-one who'll beat them.

Jordan Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 I'm thinkin' the Eagles have a shot to shock Australia, shake up the group and sneak into the quarterfinals. And by shot, I mean quite a long shot.

Finnegan Posted 20 September 2011 Author Posted 20 September 2011 Why would you want to play a team who'll beat you? I love how full of confidence you now are after one jammy win against a woefully under-firing Australia.
FoxyPV Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 I love how full of confidence you now are after one jammy win against a woefully under-firing Australia. There was nothing jammy about it. Besides I'm always confident when we play you, misplaced though that may be sometimes.

Webbo Posted 24 September 2011 Posted 24 September 2011 Good win for England today. France currently being shat on from a great height.
HEGGSY Posted 24 September 2011 Posted 24 September 2011 Why dO the play that tune before every kick off
Finnegan Posted 25 September 2011 Author Posted 25 September 2011 Listening to Nick Mullins trying to talk Argentina Scotland up as intense and interesting is hilarious. Worst game of rugby I've ever seen. I wish they could both go out.
FoxyPV Posted 25 September 2011 Posted 25 September 2011 Ireland - onwards and upwards. Scotland - unlucky - more than a hint of offside for the drop goal attempt but Argies deserved it.
FoxyPV Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 'Kinnell - what a performance by Tonga!! They should have rompedit - numerous poor decisions with the final pass when a try was on. Granted, the French were shite but you can only beat what's in front of you.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 My observations so far: Mike Tindall has the best nose in sport Steve Thompson looks very aggressive when singing the National Anthem Stay tuned for more in depth analysis from your resident rugby expert.
Matt Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 It's about bloody time England, Not brilliant but better and fucked Scotland, for now...
Kent Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Just watched 10 minutes of the RWC, just to make sure Rugby was as boring and stop-start as I remember. If I wasn't as lazy I probably would have changed channel sooner to be honest.

Do the ITV commentators know something I don't or have they forgotten an 8 point lead is meaningless unless they score four tries?
Alexikokopops Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Do the ITV commentators know something I don't or have they forgotten an 8 point lead is meaningless unless they score four tries? If at the completion of the pool phase two or more teams are level on match points, then the following criteria shall be used in the following order until one of the Teams can be determined as the higher ranked: 1) The winner of the match in which the two tied teams have played each other shall be the higher ranked; 2) The team which has the best difference between points scored for and points scored against in all its pool matches shall be the higher ranked; 3) The team which has the best difference between tries scored for and tries scored against in all its pool matches shall be the higher ranked; 4) The team which has scored most points in all its pool matches shall be the higher ranked; 5) The team which has scored most tries in all its pool matches shall be the higher ranked; 6) Should the tie be unresolved at the conclusion of steps 1 through 5, the team that is higher ranked in the updated Official IRB World Rankings on October 3, 2011. If Scotland win by 8 or more points then we both finish on 14 and Scotland go above England. If they win by less than 8 we get the losing bonus point and finish on 15 with them on 14.
Finnegan Posted 1 October 2011 Author Posted 1 October 2011 Ah cool. Didn't know we had head to heads. Thought it was tries scored / points and England are way ahead.
