topharry123 Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Watching the Champions league draw, it got me thinking about how good it would be if our name could be in their one year, and if our owners could get us there after they've already started off spending big bucks to take us to the premier league. I came across this list on wikipedia (dunno how reliable it is) and it surprised me. If we were a premier league team, there would only be 3 clubs with owners poorer than ours, and in the championship there are 16 clubs who's owners are richer than ours. So looking at this it made me wonder how far our owners will go. Is there more money elsewhere, or do we realistically need to look at these owners as being owners that will take us to the premier league and if we want to go further towards the top 4 have to find someone with more money to put into us? Obviously either way this is the ultimate dream as a leicester fan to be playing in that kind of competition, i'm just wondering if we will see it with these owners, or if we need them to be more of a stepping stone to greater things? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_club_owners
Salieri Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 not gonna happen for a long time bud Haven't we got another '3 year plan'?
Guest MattP Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 Never going to happen. I actually wouldnt want it to if I'm being honest, those clubs have lost all sense of reality.
davieG Posted 25 August 2011 Posted 25 August 2011 This is why I view our owners with a degree of caution. The amount of money they've 'invested' is a significant portion of their supposed value and if actual is not only illogical but extremely dangerous for us and them. Why we've developed this we're a rich club persona I've no idea it's counter productive anyway with respect to building a team and if those figures are true we're almost the poor relations of this league. One has to hope they are actually worth more or there are some seriously rich ghost backers out there otherwise we must be in hock up to our eyeballs. Enjoy the ride and let's hope we don't end up like Plymouth.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Just had another look at this and our ownership details have been changed. It used to say owned by Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn with wealth of 113million or something and now it says owned by King Power worth 4billion! Could the company really be worth this much? Would certainly make more sense than the owners having just over 100 mill given our spending over the last 12 months. It really shouldn't be so difficult to get reliable information about this kind of thing.
The Doctor Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 I'm quite amused rangers are only worth £1 - and that they have a stake in Arsenal.

Can't see a couple of duty free shops being worth £4bn... £100m+ does sound about right from what I can see, I'm not sure where the 4bn comes from. It's also one of the only valuations unsourced, so it could just be a fan edit I think they have fiends in high places and are able to draw in support to help back us
Dylan Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_club_owners £55 billion now
21st Century Fox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 If we're owned by King Power then the Raksriaksorn's personal wealth is fairly irrelevant. Lets just hope there's never a Coup d'État in Thailand, then we should probably worry.
Fox 4 Life Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 own up, who changed it to £99,999,999,999m & 99p

If we return to the Premier League and gain a foothold in that market, we might be able to have a tilt at the top four. Probably just a dream, but no different to the ones Brian Clough had on the banks of the Trent in the mid-70s, when Forest weren't even the top team in Nottingham, let alone Europe..

It can only be this. I can't see a world class business man such as Vichai putting ~50% of his hard earned fortune into such a risky investment.
thybluefox Posted 1 September 2011 Posted 1 September 2011 Lets just concentrate on getting out of this league first

If King Power are the owners instead of Vichai as an individual, King Power are probably writing of our cost as marketing or something, instead of it coming out of his pocket.
