as i posted before as a rangers fan bidding starts at 10m jelavic is the best player we have had for years.

People are idiots for thinking its the spl lol he has a great record in europe he just adds so much to the team.

miller/boyd

boyd had a great record for us in goals....but what you all dont realise is boyd just scored goals he played for the best club in the country we make alote of chances then he plays for a poor championship team not gona do much.

miller has done well there before and despite what people think he is not a natural goalscorer he uses his pace to get in behind and runs all night and gets lots of assists but just last years he got goals for us.

miller and boyd have horrible records in europe well we never played boyd against celtic or europe as he was useless.

bidding starts at 10m i would want 15-20m

I think you're right - most players would score more for one of two dominant clubs in the SPL than for a terrible Boro side (which, incidentally, Gordon Strachan filled with SPL players) struggling in the NPC. However, what you don't realise is he'd also be up against better defences in the NPC than in the SPL (except Celtic's).

Now now, let's not get carried away. £20mil... Idiotic.

I'd expect Jelavic to leave Rangers for a fee of £9-12mil. Had this supposed £9mil bid come in earlier in the transfer window then it would've been accepted. As a Rangers fan though, I'm happy we get to see him in our jersey for another while yet but his days are definitely numbered and he'll be in the EPL soon enough. Those of you who are slating him, the SPL or that "he's just a Boyd/Miller, look at all the space he's getting" clearly haven't saw him play and are judging him from youtube videos. Schoolboy error.

It's his quick change of pace for a big guy, his first touch, his ability to link up and be a step ahead of the game, his finishing and dominance in the air. This being said you guys missed out on him so I'm sure you won't be bothered by this. Wish you boys best of luck in the new season, always had a bit of a soft spot for Leicester and I'm sure you'll see Jelavic soon whether that be playing for you guys or another team in the EPL. Cheers

Sven-Goran Eriksson has criticised Glasgow Rangers for announcing Leicester City's rejected £6.5million bid for striker Nikica Jelavic.

Rangers chose to confirm the bid on their official website, and Eriksson said the revelation could have done City some damage during yesterday's deadline-day dealings.

Sven-Goran Eriksson

The City boss would have been concerned that other clubs may have, potentially, raised the stakes in the club's search to bring in a striker.

"It might be true that we made a bid but we don't understand why they went public," said Eriksson.

"It is an invitation for clubs to tell other clubs what is going on."

Eriksson described the 25-year-old Croatia international as "a good player with a good scoring record", but would not comment on speculation that City had tabled another bid in the region of £8m.

Jelavic, who has scored 18 goals in 28 starts for Rangers, arrived at Ibrox from Rapid Vienna where he scored 25 goals in 70 starts.

Rangers did deny reports they had received a higher bid, around £8.5m from a Russian club, and manager Ally McCoist is determined to hold on to the player.

Eriksson said transfer deadline day had been a "a busy one."

He added: "It is good that people are interested in us. It has also been great fun.

"I should have counted how many agents have phoned me, the figure would be an interesting one.

"I have had two, three or four different agents phoning about the same player, so you wonder who is representing them."

Eriksson said he had been in regular contact with the club's Thai owners as negotiations continued yesterday to bring in a player and the three or four who left the King Power Stadium. Among those, forward Dany N'Guessan moved to Millwall for an undisclosed fee, while youngster Shane Byrne joined League One side Bury on a one-month loan.

"We have had bids accepted, I won't say how many, I am not sure. It always happens like this," said Eriksson.

"We have taken it one case at a time and just been looking at it bid by bid, they decide how much we can offer and we are in daily contact with them."
