smudger63 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I can't see City signing Jelavic now that they have got Beckford. Rangers rejected Citys' £6.5m bid so it would probably take a new bid of £8m to get him. Surley the King Power people haven't got that sort of wonga to splash out in addition to what they have already spent? Well they probably have, but as you say, if the Beckford deal is confirmed, it`s unlikely we will go back in for him.
Finnegan Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 I dunno, yknow. They're completely different types of striker and if Sven wants to carry on with his 4 - 4 - 2 diamond then he's going to need a Jelavic type player. Plus, we'll have Beckford and Nugent and that's it, really. I would expect that if we don't sign Jelavic tonight we'll still sign a "big" striker on loan during the loan window, personally.

Fully expect another striker, especially a big man, and a winger. Both on loan I'm guessing.
thewarmanator Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 This. Fully expect another striker, especially a big man, and a winger. Both on loan I'm guessing. Stoke are signing crouch meaning that Kenwyne Jones is probably surplus now, surely worth a cheeky bid if not loan
lcfc22 Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 If the bid now gets accepted then jelavic will sign through fax regarding he gets it in in time to the FA! If the bid now gets accepted then jelavic will sign through fax regarding he gets it in in time to the FA!
Jacnah Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Would probably just not do a medical? Pretty sure thats what usually happens if you can't get anyone to the player to give him a medical. no way..if you were about to spend 6.5+ million on a house you'd not part with your cash until you had had a specialist survey done that says it wont fall down next week. If something can be don it has to be more along the lines of 'provisional dependent on medical'...surely

21st Century Fox Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Quite a few deals have gone through without medicals today, apparently they take assurances of fitness and go from there. I imagine theres a clause written in to terminate the deal if they fail a medical once they actually get to the club or something.
Jon the Hat Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 A medical can be done by an independent doctor.
Libertine Dream Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 http://www.firstrowsports.eu/watch/68515/1/watch-skysportsnews.html Cheers for that!
Leicester Lass Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 SSN says no contact from us in last few hours about a renewed bid.
HEGGSY Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 No renewed bid but deal could still potentially happen
LCFCstriker Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 would certainly boost our squad, has been good in the SPL dont know how he'd do in the Championship
lcfcsnow Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 How could it potentially happen? You can't get a massive deal done like that in an hour. SSN just trying to drag it out.
Happy Fox Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Charles Paterson SSN Reporter has just said that Rangers have confirmed that they have not received a new bid just yet, but it has to be done soon if we want to have a chance of landing him so looking unlikely at the moment
Ozwin Posted 31 August 2011 Posted 31 August 2011 Tbf, Sky Sports can't know everything. It could be in the works and nearly be finalized for all we know.
