Atmosphere

Not a fan of drums or bands in the whole but if it helps generate atmosphere then what the hell. As an avid Welsh follower, yes all 7000 of us, they have recently introduced a band named the 'Barry Horns'. Was a bit releuctant at first but the past two Welsh games has seen has seen a rapid rise in atmosphere. All they do to be fair is play the first line of a tune and the crowd do the rest. It has helped create larger gatherings chanting rather than littole pockets everywhere.

Again, not a great of fan but if it works so be it, get on with it and join in!

Were they there at wembley? Very impressed with your fans last month.

Maybe it was great if you were actually in those areas but I'm saying from sk4 I could only really hear the singing and feel the atmosphere when jobber got his drum back and more people joined in. Just my view of it.

If the children at the back of SK4 stopped singing stupid songs like "if you're watching on telly you're a c**t"

and singing other songs at a million miles an hour, whilst attempting right side, left side between about 20 of them, who incidentally all sit on the left side, and pretending like their the best fans in th whole country, then maybe the whole of that area would stop thinking they're a bunch of pricks and join in with them, making the atmosphere a little better in that part of the ground which in turn would mean that we wouldn't even be able to hear or need jobber and his drum. :scarf:

Geni

Yes they were at Wembley. Even though we only took around 1200, we were very noisy and the band were hardly heard because they would start a tune off and we'd all sing to that tune. The band member swould even stop playing and just sing.

Reckon this could take off at the walkers?

If so...funny names please ......As an idea the welsh band are named the Barry Horns after midfielder Barry Horne and...wait for it....they come from Barry!! Genius :trumpet:

the club should work with the fans.. make use of the stereo and the screens to get some songs established...

have teh music play on the speakers and then the words flash up on the screen like these couple of songs..

i know people dont like the speakers and not saying play it at goals etc just s there there try and utilise them to our advantages..

We sit in the back of the family stand near the away fans, We moved there to get away from the drum. Thought the atmosphere was great first half without the drum. I have stated before and will repeat, the drum kills creativity, it gets the same chants repeated. Don't get me wrong chants at the right time are fantastic, but we need a blend of chants, songs and those witty ones some clever bugger makes up on the day.

The best chant which really rouses the crowd is the "Leicester, Leicester, Leicester Leicester" the one on repeat, which has no drumming at any point. The other fact is, he doesnt know when to stop, you just need the drum to start the chant off, not to be continually repeated when everyone has stopped.

AND ONE LAST MOAN!!! someone please tell the youngsters they are singing 'When you're smiling' FAR TOO FAST!!! the hand waves at the end are meant to be slow and like the old singer Max Bygraves would have done.

Sorry

Great game on Saturday, great atmosphere, love our club!!!!

We would be the laughing stock of the league if that happened.

how do you work that out..

we play music on them now, just random music though. with a couple of songs that are used like this anyway, WYS example..

now if for example the kasabian song was played, it has leicester links anyway, decent bit to sing to etc

at present we rely on the drum to start us off for alot of songs.. so utilizing the speakers to get some songs established is no different..

if you look at some ultra teams etc they use people with a megaphone etc.....

once some decent songs are established amongst the fans would be easy to get them going..

go and check some american football videos out for example, 100,000 people all jumping and singing a chant, see how good it looks and ask yourself it people would really say "omg they used a speaker to start them off"....

My thoughts were that if you got a number of fans together and recorded them singing our songs (what few of them there are), and play them through the speakers around the ground, surely everyone would join in and eventually with a bit of luck, start the singing of their own back.

People can say whatever they like about the idea but the truth of the matter is it would improve the atmosphere which on the whole is pretty dogshit. It seems that the only people you can ever hear at the ground are the people with nothing better to say than, 'oh for ****s sake vassell that was shit', 'get him off, he's shit', 'you're shit City, you're ****ing shit' etc etc and of course the boo boys at half time if the result isn't going our way.

There was a bloke who sits behind me at the derby game screaming for schlupp to come on and slating Sven for not being able to see what was going on......

...about 10mins after schlupp had already come on

Few things.

Drum - Tough one. I think it can compliment some songs as long as it's used at the right tempo. I do agree though we're far too reliant on it, I'm not saying get rid but we need to be far less reliant on it.

Songs on the screen/speakers - Categorical no. That's even worse than Coventry.

I say we drop jobber and get a steel drum band instead, you gotta get with the times.

Orchestral section - horns, violins, the whole works - this would sound cool:
