Danny the Fox 95 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Yesteday's atmosphere was brilliant I thought yesterday, that's what it should sound like every home game! Outsung the Derby fans for most of the game, and Jobber's drum helped also as you could even hearchants from the Kop and the Family Stand. Brilliant win and super performance from the lads! I'm hoping we take a lot to Birmingham and sing our hearts out! Come on you Blues!
Larry_LCFC Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Said in the Derby thread yesterday how bad the atmosphere was without jobbers drum in the first half. Was actually over the moon that he got it back in the second half because it seemed to transform the crowd. Bit sad that we need a drum to get us going but so be it
MattyFromLE Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Loved it! There seemed WAY more than 22.5k in there!
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 2 October 2011 Author Posted 2 October 2011 Yeah thought it was around 25,000 inside, and plus Derby can't talk they were quieter than Brighton and Southampton, plus they only took 1300!

Bit sad that we need a drum to get us going but so be it I disagree, I was amazed how good the atmosphere was for the first time without a drum! We outsung them from start to finish! Loved it! There seemed WAY more than 22.5k in there! I know, I thought there was at least 24k there. That said I was proud of both the players and fans immensely yesterday. UP THE FOXES!!!
FuriousFox46 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 I'm so proud of the Family Stand, they were shouting all game and they even gave the Derby fans a lot of stick.

I wasn't impressed when it was brought back up for the 2nd half.

I wasn't impressed when it was brought back up for the 2nd half. I dont see how it was better. From where i was sat in SK4, without the drum barely any chants could be heard. Second half I could hear loads. Plus the drum helps the Kop join in with the group next to the away fans because it makes it easier to hear which chant it is as more people join in. Just my opinion from what I saw.
foxile5 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 We need the drum and that fat bloke as much as he needs another double helping of curry, chips and kebab on McDonalds.
Raj Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Jobbers a good lad and a top bloke. But was the atmosphere as good in the 1st in L1 without the drum? I thought it was a pretty decent effort when we were to have to fend for ourselves!!
Yojoe36 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Yeah it was really good. Felt like a 30k crowd (at times)
Fox92 Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 For some reason, I always think the atmosphere is better during later/night games.
jamesmilner Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 it felt great just to be a part of it , we all did our job well !
Dan Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 For some reason, I always think the atmosphere is better during later/night games. 5:20's are often good, night games at ours are often absolute shite - it's probably because we always lose at home midweek too.
Shrenchel Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 We were much better without the drum I reckon. When the team is playing well then it definitely does more harm than good. Yeah it's decent for perking up a few in L/K if the match is shit, would much rather do without though,
Luke-the-Fox Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Was sat in the family stand singing my heart out and to be honest we could barley hear jobber and his drum
Bugg Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 We were much better in the first half, the drum kind of killed it a bit in L1/K1 in the second half.
Corky Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 First half the atmosphere was cracking, loved the noise that greeted the first goal especially.

Sorry but I don't agree there. The atmosphere was terrific in the first half, from first minute to last. Credit where credits due surely, our fans made some real noise yesterday.

Maybe it was great if you were actually in those areas but I'm saying from sk4 I could only really hear the singing and feel the atmosphere when jobber got his drum back and more people joined in. Just my view of it.

Just my view of it. And this is exactly why was SHOULDN'T have Jobber drumming away. Too many people let their chanting/singing be dictated by the rhythm of his drum. We he stops, the crowd stops. So if he's not feeling particularly up for the fight or under the weather, then it is reflected in a large chunk of the fans. Basing your chanting/singing on one man is a bad idea. He should support the signing; not the other way around.

1964FOX Posted 3 October 2011 Posted 3 October 2011 Jobber would love it if there was enough atmosphere at a game that he didn't have to use his drum except in a supportive role. Truth is he generally has to get the atmosphere going as usually there is none. I loved the atmosphere at Saturday's match it was quality from start to finish, what frustrates me is that clearly we can create atmosphere in our new stadium even with 10,000 empty seats and yet regularly we don't. You can't blame one man on a drum for the lack of atmosphere, Saturday's match proved who is to blame and its us. We need more days like Saturday and maybe we will get some noise going and Jobber can give his arms a rest.
taffyfox Posted 3 October 2011 Posted 3 October 2011 Not a fan of drums or bands in the whole but if it helps generate atmosphere then what the hell. As an avid Welsh follower, yes all 7000 of us, they have recently introduced a band named the 'Barry Horns'. Was a bit releuctant at first but the past two Welsh games has seen has seen a rapid rise in atmosphere. All they do to be fair is play the first line of a tune and the crowd do the rest. It has helped create larger gatherings chanting rather than littole pockets everywhere. Again, not a great of fan but if it works so be it, get on with it and join in!
