Filbert_Ross Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 what else can sven do? leave at least one player up front when we defend a corner for starters would be nice.
Bangkok Mick Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 For a start stick to a 4-4-2 system. It`s a simple easily understood formation for the players and at this level. problem is we only have one real winger in Dyer so would have to look to get 1 or 2 in in January. Not sure about Mills captaincy qualities. If schmiechel was an outfield player I`d make him captain immediately. Other than that I`m stumped as to what Sven can do. The players have the potential (Derby 4-0) but why there`s no consistency I`m at a loss for words.... very worrying.
accessory Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 You can't get consistency unless you string a couple of results together. Consistency is based on preparation, a positive attitude, fitness, teamwork and a certain amount of luck (e.g. the referee, injuries, weather). Besides, there are hardly any poor sides in this division. Competition is tough. I hope we won't crumble because of this competition. Actually there are 24 poor sides in this division. The quality is declining year by year. Even Southampton haven't won an away game since they played us. Which goes to show how badly we've under-achieved this season, not only in away games but in the THREE dismal home defeats witnessed to date, all against weaker teams who would kill for our stadium, our transfer resources and our fanbase. Questions of motivation and character have to be asked about both this squad and the management who put it together. At the moment, we're nowhere near getting satisfactory answers.
Corky Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 what else can sven do? leave at least one player up front when we defend a corner for starters would be nice. This. I'm really not sure what style of football we are playing. It's not direct and it's not passing through midfield, it seems to be a slight mixture of the two but to no great extent.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 You are completely missing the point, you are looking at specifics when our problem is so fundamental that the specifics do not matter one jot, you talk about not having a Plan B when we do not even have a Plan A....... Put simply, our team are sent out to play with no shape or structure, no discipline and absolutely no idea of what they are up against. The preparation is so poor that our efforts are sometimes laughable. To play well, even for just a few minutes, requires two or three of our better players to step up and play the kind of football they are capable of, but this happens so rarely that it is clearly some sort of aberation from the disjointed dross that has been the norm this season. We may be only a couple of points off a playoff place, but the table does not lie, we are bottom half, which is what we deserve...... Sooooo.......we DO deserve to be only two points off a playoff place then ? Omg mate...........you must have been totally pished offf when we thrashed the Shaggers 4-0........what with being completely devoid of any structured plan or preparation ! You really do talk some tosh !
Happy Fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 The writing is on the wall as far as Sven is concerned, imo a new man will be brought in during the next international break.
suffolk fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 We have beaten Southampton, Derby, Brighton, played really well! We have lost to Bristol City, Millwall, Reading and played Crap! Virtually same team same tatics same diamond formation. It's the players attitudes not the Manager. They turn up thinking oh it's only so and so they are in the bottom three we don't need to try. Whereas when it's teams in the top six they try like hell. Middlesborough and Cardiff away further examples of this. I truly believe it will be the same on Saturday against Wet Spam. We will turn up and probably get something. Frustrating as hell being a Leicester fan re inconsistency but it could be worse at least we are not Man Utd Prem Champions and lose at home 6-1 to your fiercest rivals..?
Happy Fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Well then possibly the players don't want to play for the manager? something seems wrong in that dressing room

Happy Fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Is the loan market still open? I think so it doesn't close till the 25 November
smudgerfox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Isn't this down to what Gallagher was saying during the commentary? That the team thinks of itself as automatic promotion candidates? This attitude stinks. They need to get real. These players need a good kick up their ***** and/or a first-team coach who's able to give them a real rollicking when they're fairing so poorly just like yesterday. Sven, as much as I like him as a person, doesn't fit that type. For that he's too mild-mannered. Finally woken up have we Prussian? Not delivering the loyalty lectures today then?
terry2simmo Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I made my first post just after the Derby game asking " Could howard be part of Svens Plan B ? " this season and got well slated from some quarters, fair enough. but its amazing how often Howard has been mentioned in the last couple of days. Also what about Berner, Tunchev . Waghorn , Dyer and Gallagher when fit?. They are still part of the City squad and could be utilised far more than at present. One word passion. Get some fire back in the team. Sven is unlikely to use them as they are not his signings. I just fear the Swede may turn out to be just a Turnip.

Tunchev - maybe, but might not settle for being a standby for Mills and Bamba. Waghorn - doing well at Hull. Unlikely to return when his loan spell ends. Dyer - played in 3 of last 4 games with mixed results. Not really a 90-minute player, especially in winter months (though this can be said of other players in the current squad) Gallagher - other than banter and a fit missus, what does he bring to us? He wasn't exactly tearing the league a new one before he was injured. Agree with the conclusion though..
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 It was one game, why haven't we played like that in the last three matches? That's exactly the question the owners who have backed the manager big time must be asking him .
