Londonblue Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 For Millwall yesterday in the center of midfield, this is the sort of player we should be looking at! Completley ran the midfield for them and made, Wellens, Abe and Johnson look silly at times. Also Feeney on the right for them gave Konchesky the run around. Paul robinson always impresses me when we play them as well, a proper center half. Maybe we should be looking at these sort of players? They all fought for the cause and looked like they cared for there football club unlike these nobodys who dont give a monkeys who play for us.
Donut Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Decent player, underrated IMO but realistically were shopping in Harrod's now with our club, right or wrong, and not Spar. Dont think someone like that would particularly add much to OUR team. to a team like Millwall sure, decent player.
Dan Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 That's not a dig by the way I like your thinking and I agree but sadly I think some signings would be just counter productive, we've got too many central midfielders at the minute let alone adding another.
Donut Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 And just to add, thats if we were in the market for a central midfielder. Unless we want the few we dont own to become ours as well.
Londonblue Posted 23 October 2011 Author Posted 23 October 2011 Thats just the problem donut, as you say 'we are now shopping in harrod's' we sign players who just aint going to fight for the club in games we need to battle

I'd say that's probably because we're the team to beat in the division.
Dan Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 In all fairness at least Trotter would have something to prove.

Konchesky must've been in the bargain past it's best before date section then .
Donut Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Thats just the problem donut, as you say 'we are now shopping in harrod's' we sign players who just aint going to fight for the club in games we need to battle I agree that there's a certain ''something'' that makes a successful championship player and no doubt about it, grit and determination are a big part of that. Sven only really considers players who have a) a premiership reputation b) someone who he has worked with previously Id love to see us looking at a bigger market, look at the way Paul Lambert built up Norwich with unheralded players. Just wont happen here i dont think
Donut Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 to a team like millwall, decent player! this is the team that hammered us 3 0 at home, if we were still playing now we wouldnt have scored Yes ok, on the day Millwall spanked us, but they are where they are for a reason........Its a team of cheap players and free transfers because they HAVE to do this to field any sort of competitive team. Millwall arent ever going to threaten promotion without some kind of investement, that was my point. Big fish small pond type thing
Kitchandro Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 What was this bloke doing before Saturday when they were in the bottom 3? We have good central midfielders, they are just underperforming. If we need anyone, I'm sick of saying it but it needs to be a winger.
Londonblue Posted 23 October 2011 Author Posted 23 October 2011 If they play like they did yesterday every week im sure they will be up there.
Donut Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 If they play like they did yesterday every week im sure they will be up there. Not a hope in hell of being anywhere near the playoffs. Avoiding relegation would be a major success
Father Ted Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 I remember when everybody was raving about Neil Danns when he bossed us last season. Now we've signed him, he can't even get into our squad.
Fox92 Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 I am always impressed with Paul Robinson. You said he is a 'proper centre half', now didn't Sven get rid of one of them to Hull - Jack Hobbs? Another thing I question with Sven. I agree with the Trotter post as well. I have liked him for a bit now. Big and strong, decent in the air and will chip in with a goal or two.
Soar Fox Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 QPR got promoted with players who know what this league is about. Shaun Derry, Clint Hill
Haydos Posted 23 October 2011 Posted 23 October 2011 Nobody was moaning about the signings when they were brought in. Put up and shut up, they're here to stay.
Donut Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Good players, but put into a system that reduces them to average ones
accessory Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Nobody was moaning about the signings when they were brought in. Put up and shut up, they're here to stay. A few did express reservations about Beckford (supposedly the last piece in the title-winning jigsaw), and he's not exactly doing a lot to prove them wrong, is he?

Alright, be pedantic. On the whole everyone seemed fairly happy and absolutely chuffed to bits with the likes of Johnson, Fernandes and Mills.
ian the fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Another central midfielder? Really? remember the ones we already have are shite !!!
