harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 just wanted to ask some opinions, im 14 and 2 people have told me today that im too old to be there friend. We were completely fine and then both of them sent me messages saying that they will never speak to me again because im 2 years older than them, ive done nothing wrong and just yesterday they were both saying im a best friend to them. Like i said i just want some opinions from you guys, anyone else think this is just pathetic or is it normal?
Charl91 Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 It's not normal at all. They must be strange kids. Though it sounds like you did something else to upset them, and that's just their excuse. You don't just suddenly decide someone is too old to be your friend.

Corky Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 Very strange. Two year difference in age? That can't be the real reason.

WUM??? ohh year 8.. my bad.. still.. there 12 years old..... find freinds your own age..
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 why would you want to hang around with an 8 year old??? sounds wrong to me..... WUM??? year 8, not 8 years old, shes 12 Very strange. Two year difference in age? That can't be the real reason. they wont give me any other reason
AoWW Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 why would you want to hang around with an 8 year old??? sounds wrong to me..... WUM??? ohh year 8.. my bad.. still.. there 12 years old..... find freinds your own age.. He said she was in Year 8 (therefore 12/13) not that she's 8 years old!

Charl91 Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 2 years is barely an age gap at all. Either they have issues with you, or their parents do.
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 2 years is barely an age gap at all. Either they have issues with you, or their parents do. never spoke to their parents, dont even know their parents' names, and its the fact that i havent spoke to them between the time they were calling me a best friend and they were telling me that im too old to be their friend
Charl91 Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 Well, I don't know the real issue, I can only guess. Maybe their parents are worried that hanging out with an "older" kid is going to have a bad influence on them, especially if they don't know you. While 2 years isnt a big difference at all, since you're a teenager and they're not, it sounds worse. Like I said, I can only speculate, but the fact that they suddenly decided you were too old isn't a likely one.

m00nie Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 so your saying every single friend you have is the same age as you??? no but im not 12 years old... i have a 12 year old daughter and personaly would prefer her to be with other 12 year olds rather than 14 year old.. and if they have told you they dont/cant be friends why not just accept that, to come and make threads about it seems you may not want to accept it
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 no but im not 12 years old... i have a 12 year old daughter and personaly would prefer her to be with other 12 year olds rather than 14 year old.. and if they have told you they dont/cant be friends why not just accept that, to come and make threads about it seems you may not want to accept it like i said several times,i came looking for opinions on whether it was normal, and no obviously i dont want to accept it when they were both good friends and it seems like ive done something wrong that im not aware of, and its not as if i go round their house or spend hours hanging out with them, its just talking
Leicester Lass Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 like i said several times,i came looking for opinions on whether it was normal, and no boviously i dont want to accept it when they were both good friends and it seems like ive done something wrong that im not aware of, and its not as if i go round their house or spend hours hanging out with them, its just talking Is it a 'real' friendship or over the internet?
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 Is it a 'real' friendship or over the internet? real friendship, they go to my school
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 no but im not 12 years old... i have a 12 year old daughter and personaly would prefer her to be with other 12 year olds rather than 14 year old.. and if they have told you they dont/cant be friends why not just accept that, to come and make threads about it seems you may not want to accept it Are you the parent of harryboi's friend? Sounds like a case of over protective parents to me. When I was about 14 I had friends 3-4 years younger and older, heck there were adults I considered friends. Some people are just weird.

When I was about 14 I had friends 3-4 years younger and older, heck there were adults I considered friends. Some people are just weird. a boy comes on talking about 12 years old CHILDREN that no longer want to be his friend and he cant accept it and yet you think a parent is weird and over protective..
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 a boy comes on talking about 12 years old CHILDREN that no longer want to be his friend and he cant accept it and yet you think a parent is weird and over protective.. if your not going to contribute anything positive then why dont you jog on and read another topic
m00nie Posted 26 October 2011 Posted 26 October 2011 if your not going to contribute anything positive then why dont you jog on and read another topic if you want opinions expect ones you wont like...
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 if you want opinions expect ones you wont like... i can accept your opinion, thank you for your input, dont try and ridicule me in future though, the reason i cant accept it is because it is a stupid petty reason, its not as if im gonna lead them astray and the one that annoys me more is the one whos parents wont allow her to be my friend

Like i said i just want some opinions from you guys, anyone else think this is just pathetic or is it normal? At that age, isn't it normal for friends to turn on each other with a little peer pressure? Educating Essex had a show just about this subject last week. I really wouldn't worry about it. I am sure they will be talking next week.
harryboi72 Posted 26 October 2011 Author Posted 26 October 2011 so your annoyed a 12 year old child cant be your friend because she is following her parents advice.. sorry but you need to accept it.. what ever the reason... you cant force someone to like you, be your friend, go against there parents. maybe there not mature enough, and things like one day your friend the next day not can be an example of that.. cheers,im not trying to force them,id just rather have an honest reason, and if i have done something wrong i would rather know so in future i dont make the same mistake twice, should i try and talk to their parents because i know that if they did know me then they wouldnt think i would lead them astray or anything
