Thracian Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Watching Keegan's Newcastle team playing in the old First Division was breathtaking and at that time there wasn't a manager I'd have preferred but that was a long, long time ago and all the charisma seems to have disappeared. Mention of Keegan only emphasises my view that OGS should be the one chosen to continue his managerial journey to the top.
ossieclap Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I'd be surprised if Keegan wanted to get back into the limelight, even in a DOF role. Surely his nerves are shot now? I can't see the logic in this......if the Thais wanted a big name in a DOF role while they appoint a younger man to do the real work then why not just move Sven upstairs?
Burmesefox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Director of football always ends in tragedy. It's bollox, it's a position that clubs stick a manger in that they can't afford to sack isn't it?
foxychik Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 NOOOOOOOO !!! Please no Keegan the man is spineless he can't deal with the pressure, if we were going down the DOF route we should have done it with Sven kept the ship steady and built for the future . Why are we on this bloody managerial merry go round again ? thought we'd moved on from the mad mandy days ffs .
cc_star Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Keegan with Keown as coach... maybe Keefan on his own or as an interfering DoF... no thanks
jamesmilner Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 sorry but alex ferguson made him look stupid and finished his seriousness at football . a definite no no ! blokes a twat !
He's not bald Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Why would Clarke want to come here to play second fiddle to Keegan and in 12 months time be unemployed instead of managing in the championship with Huddersfeild
Thracian Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Director of football always ends in tragedy. It's bollox, it's a position that clubs stick a manger in that they can't afford to sack isn't it? Absolutely. Who the hell "directs football" but the manager?
bald reynard Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Why would Clarke want to come here to play second fiddle to Keegan and in 12 months time be unemployed instead of managing in the championship with Huddersfeild Yes, I reckon that's why speculation has grown today, on Karl Robinson coming. I'm guessing, that 'King Kev' HAS ALREADY been lined up as DoF (he's not doing much else at the moment) - and Clark is the Boards' (and Keegan's !) first choice as Coach / Team Manager under him (after all, they worked together at Newcastle for quite a while). IF they can't persuade Clark to come in that role (and Huddersfield to part with him), I reckon Robinson is being recommended (by that Selection Panel, under Pleat) as next choice. All my speculation of course, but ...... the 'runes' seem to point that way, for me at least.
Happy Fox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 djwanker Geoff Peters With O'Neill not wanting the #lcfc job, the owners will turn to Lee Clark with Keegan as director of Football. From a very good source.
cc_star Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Cannot believe this, what a terrible setup if this happens. Director of Football rarely works in the English game, especially if they're more famous than the manager. No serious manager like MoN, Hughes or Davies would be happy with someone else pulling the strings, it means you'll only ever get 2nd rate managers If you're going to have a DoF they need to be shadowy background figures advising the board on football matters, Keegan will not be in the background the structure will interfere with the manager's ability to carry out his job & it WILL end in tears Although nowhere near MoN, Hughes or Di Matteo in my list I'd sooner have Keegan as manager if he can get a great defensive coach like Keown or someone DoF? Feck off!
