tickler28 Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Ok so not the amazing start to the season that we had all hoped for and expected but......... We will get better I am positive of that and can play decent football, defend well and score goals....we have shown that. People need to focus more on the positives and not start threads that slate players at our football club. It's not going to help matters if every week we pick on players for not performing. Beckford aside (attitude needs to change) every other player puts in 100 % for the city and if they're not good enough let's let the manager ( whoever that may be decide). I live in Exeter as I may have mentioned before......Exeter City is a smallish club with an even smaller budget ( a club run by the fans like afc wimbledon) They were bottom of league one but none of my friends moaned when they were losing every week or playing crap they had a POSITIVE outlook on things and trust the manager to make the right choices. They don't sack the manager at the first sign of danger and the supporters back their team no matter what. To be honest I said to my friend last night I wish Leicester City was more like your club......all these big expectations, big wages, constant changes and cynical outlooks are frankly getting me down........how did it end up like this? BTW City till I die! Leicester City that is!

I want to agree with you but I'm not convinced about us right now. A new manager might give us a lift but currently I don't see it getting a lot better.

davieG Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I'm perfectly calm but totally disillusioned with all that is LCFC, mind you it's not the first time either.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I'm perfectly calm but totally disillusioned with all that is LCFC, mind you it's not the first time either. Yeah, but that's pretty much the default position of reasonable City fans.
tickler28 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Been saying this for 5 years+ Yeah so have loads of other teams with or without money
tickler28 Posted 30 October 2011 Author Posted 30 October 2011 Yeah, but that's pretty much the default position of reasonable City fans. I know I'm probably no better at times tbh we all get carried away and dream of mid table premiership and the odd win against tottenham or draw against united. What the problem is though is rationality. We're to gun ho on and off the pitch. If we can't have MON then we can at least learn from all the things he did it right at Leicester. Team spirit was incredible players were in the RIGHT positions (ok so Walsh and Elliott were never true strikers but they did a job when we were without Heskey) and I believe if you have 2 strikers like we have they need to compliment one another. Take Heskey and Cottee for example one did the donkey work whilst the other poached even worked with Eadie and Elliott and Ferdinand/deane and dickov! Cue Howard to start IMO Also wingers like impey, guppy and later summerbee. Just watched Burnley highlights and am worried because they played well yesterday.....balls CROSSED in and finished also Austin looked quality so need to mark him closely!
Yojoe36 Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Well to be perfectly honest, I'm not that optimistic for a minute. I was last season, the season before that e.t.c. The way it's going, I see a mid-table finish. And don't F**king say to me "Awwww, it's only October, we've got the entire season yet" How many games were we off the play-offs last season? Those 9 games with Sousa in charge cost us.

BTW City till I die! Leicester City that is! The problems with the players extend well beyond Beckford. Too many players have been promoted beyond their true level of ability. They showed even before Sven's time they can't handle expectations. The comparisons with a team like Exeter are ridiculous. Their manager took them from the conference to League 1. With their resources and fanbase they are probably as high as they can expect to be - although Plymouth's freefall means they are now the top side in their region. Too many City fans suffer from an inferiority complex and have grown to accept the lower leagues as our natural habitat. They're not and never will be. Premier League football is a legitimate target for us and our owners have every right to expect the team and management to take us towards that aim.

Premier League football is a legitimate target for us and our owners have every right to expect the team and management to take us towards that aim. Just for the record they weren't moaning even when they were in the conference...not the LOYAL supporters anyway. you're right that at PRESENT they have reached their peak but back to the matter in hand you talk about reasonable to expect Premiership football and an inferiority complex but i totally disagree I think the club and fans still look at ourselves as a top 10 Premiership side languishing in the championship. We are to often looking for the quick fix...you can't buy your way out of this league....you have to pay your way out of it.....with the RIGHT tactics. you suggest players don't have the ability which is bullshit...we have sodding international players playing for us for gods sake....it's that we don't believe in ourselves enough and don't play the right tactics (or any for that matter!). I remember players in the past who lacked ability but were awesome....Guppy was brilliant for us but wasn't what you would describe as an all round player he had his faults. Savage made a SHED load of money from being somebody with little or no ability but bags of passion and work ethic....as far as i can see we have the players but not the attitude....simple as!
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 What a lot appear to be doing now is to start questioning some of Svens signings.. I have never questioned Svens signings, with the exception of Beckford because I think mentally he's a disruptive, spoilt twat. Within a few months, criticism is starting to rear its ugly head over SSL, Danns, certainly Beckford... Along with continual pokes at King, Wellens and sometimes even Bamba.. I say again, either you think Sven made good signings or you don't.. It's too easy to start criticising them now, when only a few months ago you appeared happy with them.. They haven't become bad players overnight but, I believe, weren't effectively managed. Too little discipline, bizarre tactics, strange substitutions and in form players being left out became the order of the day.. I maintain that our squad is well good enough to mount a decent ascent up the division.. But with the right bloke in to manage them and to get the best out of them. I'm more than prepared to give our expensively assembled squad of players the chance as I just cannot accept they have suddenly become poor players. For me it's just too easy to say our lads are 'shite'.. I don't believe they are

Corky Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 So why sack the manager???? Because we haven't done it enough. We are 14th. It's far too low for the expectation and expenditure. I didn't agree with the sacking because no one was lined up but I can see why they did it.
