tylesta Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Still top half! Just.... I don't really get this attractive/effective football debate... I remember seeing some fantastic games under MON.. The three all draw with The Arsenal.. The four two win over the Black Cats.. And many many more. Was this not attractive football? What really is attractive football? I reckon it's games of football that leave you coming away from the game with the 'feel good factor'.. Under MON there were far more games that left you like this than they're weren't... 5-2
seenitall Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Exactly. But our new manager is Nigel Pearson not Martin O Neill - so it is a moot point. Glad its Pearson rather than the Championship also rans but I agree with Col (a rare occasion) that come this time next year we will probably looking for yet another manager................

Corky Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Two separate thoughts:- Attractive football does not have to be pretty football. I get a huge buzz seeing a group of decent players coming together and playing as a team, when players by their effort, commitment and team play produce performances and gain results that are better than expected. I love that......... With a third of the season already gone, NFP is probably the only manager who could come in and pick up the pace with immediate effect. He knows the club, many of the players and he knows the division. I would expect him to be producing results when another manager is still finding his way around the squad and the club. Given our current situation and the need to make a serious attempt at promotion I think he is a decent choice..... Are you alright dave? You're quite positive

You have completely missed the point. I don't think this time next year we will be looking for a new manager.. And with some of what you post I'm not bothered you don't often agree mi ode...

TheLabMan Posted 14 November 2011 Author Posted 14 November 2011 Was the 4-2 over the black cats the day Collymore got his hat-trick, because, IMO this was the pinnacle of our best side under MON! After that day, he left for Celtic, and our demise began! Come on Pearson, bring back the good times for us!
MPH Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 he blew it in the first leg.. hos desicions and tactics were poor.. we could have killed it off in the first leg then the penalties would never have been needed... Tell me a manager who gets it tactically spot on in every single game..
Babylon Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Gosh! A commendation from the legendary Babs! I feel quite emotional... Don't get too used to it.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Don't get too used to it. Ah bugger ya then! (metaphorically speaking of course...)
m00nie Posted 14 November 2011 Posted 14 November 2011 Tell me a manager who gets it tactically spot on in every single game.. well the way people put NP on a pedestal alot think he does... if your going to mess up tho the play offs is not really a good time to do it is it...
