While i agree it is great he is coming back, comparing him to any of these managers doesnt really make fair reading as Nigel is the only manager ever to manager us in the 3rd tier of football.
hackneyfox Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Will people pleas cut this 'hate' shit out. Some of us don't really want him back, that doesn't mean I hate him. childish

Jordan Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 As the above repliers posted, surely win percentage is not the best metric to compare the managers listed above. Nigel's WP in 2009/10 (including cups and playoffs) was 46.15%, however, 52 games may even be too small of a sample size to use in this case.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Doing a blank comparison of win percentages between managers in different situations means nothing. This from someone who loves Pearson.
artursteppe Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 I'm not a Pearson "hater" But I think those stats mean jack shit. This - with bells on!
Nick Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Will people pleas cut this 'hate' shit out. Some of us don't really want him back, that doesn't mean I hate him. childish Couldn't agree more, when I supported Sven I was labelled a lover and when I questioned the appointment of NP who I actually never wanted to leave (but was glad I went to more home than away games those seasons) I apparently became a Pearson hater....... Quite simply I'd have preferred Sparky, preferred to give Sven until Christmas blah blah blah, I'll support the team and the appointment, you won't see me graffitiing every thread possible with poisonous remarks about the manager, unlike some during Sven's reign. I simply hope we go forwards in our development and acquisition of players rather than backwards. Happy? Well I'm not doing cartwheels. Disappointed? Not as much as I would have been with Billy Davies. Looking forward to the rest of the season? Not especially, we really needed stability but hey ho - I'm not unhappy and I'll support the team. The one thing we have lacked in this division is steel. All our players in midfield and attack with the exception of Howard and Johnson are simply not physical enough for this division. That's what Pearson will bring in hopefully somebody that can cross a ball and some steel. Bring on the war chest and the transfer window and maybe work out which of the 9 central midfielders in the side we want to keep.
Fox92 Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Nigel Pearson's record is excellent, regardless of whether we were in the League 1 or the Championship or the Premier League. You can only beat what is in front of you, and Pearson made sure we did that alright - we won promotion at our first attempt, unlike other teams in the past such as Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds and Nottingham Forest.
cc_star Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Stats mean nothing without context, Some people have lower win rates as they were managing in the Prem You could even look at money spent, some people had to cut the wage bill drastically so they might not have achieved much (or anything at all, but still could have done a good job with the tools they were given), some people managed on peanuts & some people had multi-millions to spend on transfers, fees & wages.
LCFC_4212 Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 how many of pearsons wins were in league 1?? surely that effects the stats.. Good point
m00nie Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Will people pleas cut this 'hate' shit out. Some of us don't really want him back, that doesn't mean I hate him. childish this.. always the case on here, if you dont agree people take the disagreement to the extreme. people (myself included) have different reasons for not wanting NP (or even other managers/players) but thats our choice. dont mean we hate them. just maybe prefer someone else, not like some things they do etc.. As much as i dont want him it looks nailed on hes coming so once here il still be there supporting MY team and will be backing the manager.
Corky Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Those stats don't tell the whole story- all have been in different divisions at different times. Football changes. And this "hate" business is ridiculous. I've heard it said about fans who don't like Sven, Pearson, Weale, Wellens, Waghorn. The truth is I doubt anyone "hates" them, just isn't a fan of them. There is a difference.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 So if Stat's dont meen anything... Does that make Iain Dowie a god?

Corky Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Tell you what, if Pearson can repeat his league record with us (3 wins for every defeat) then we'll be doing fine.

That worked a treat, didn't it?
He's not bald Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Stats are history and are not relevant, it's what happens from now that concerns me
The Doctor Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 By those stats, Allen is a better manager than MON. I like my statistics, but those are pretty much useless as there are far too many variables not kept constant.

seenitall Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Exactly. I don't love anyone who plays or manages in football. Don't really hate anyone either but the stats thing doesn't lie you know. If you have a better win ratio than the other managers in your div in the same season, you'll probably finish higher than them. See!
B52 Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 If Perason adapts to the current team we'll go for a ride.
