DanTheFox07 Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 Just been thinking how poor our discipline has been this season and the fact Mills has now been sent off twice, looking at this table I found :- http://www.football-lineups.com/tourn/The_Championship_2011-2012/Stats/Discipline/ show`s that we are 3rd overall! any else but me disappointed with this?
Jagdinho Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 We have had 4 red cards, so the table has not been updated yet. We will be top when it gets updated I think. Mills x2, Kasper v Forest and Vassell v Cov
Adster Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 so were top of the table!!! Promotion beckons!!!
woddyuk Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 Mills tackling is only slightly worse than robbie neilson and slighty better than gallachers, yet still been sent off twice ?? Go figure !!
Corky Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 It is a problem, though we have had some poor decisions against us which probably lead to yellow cards for dissent. The Kasper sending off at Forest was ridiculous, and the Mills one on Saturday seemed unlucky, the other two I have no complaints about.
NewburyFox Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 The Vassell red card was the only one that didn't cost us. I believe we would've beaten Forest had Kasper not have been sent off, probably would've lost to Brum anyway as we were playing shite with 11 men (and if I remember rightly we actually improved with 10 men) and no idea about Hull as we would've been one down anyway. I don't think it's a problem, we're not a dirty team, we just need to stop making stupid tackles.

After seeing the replay of Mills' challenge, I'd say it was a yellow as McLean is never getting the ball but in real time the ref may not have seen it this way so you can see why he has sent him off. It'll be interesting to see if we appeal or not
Fox92 Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 I think we would have beaten Nottingham Forest if Kasper wouldn't have been sent off. Not sure about Mills' at Birmingham because we were poor, and I think we may have also got something out of Hull if we still had 11 players because Nigel wouldn't have been forced to bring Beckford off, and, we wouldn't have been hanging on in there like we were. I don't think Mills should have been sent off against Hull either. The rules state that the player needs to have control the ball (which is why David Luiz wasn't sent off for Chelsea against Newcastle), and not only did McLean not have the ball under control, he was also going wide. Kasper may have got there initially as well, but what Mills did was still stupid.

Kitchandro Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 Is discipline costing our promotion push? Yes. Not just sending offs because I actually only think one of them was fair, but all were avoidable. Could Kasper have kept his mouth shut for the first yellow? Yes. Did Mills need to make that flick the other day? No. DId Vassell need to go lunging in? No. But also how many penalties have we conceded? The one at Forest was harsh to say the least but the rest have been rash tackles in the box, again Mills to blame but also Bamba at least twice. Then at the other end we've got Beckford and Howard constantly giving away cheap fouls when we need to be piling the pressure on. I think we've got a few egos and hotheads in the team and it has shown so far. In particular, the players whom I have mentioned (Vassell aside, he's out for the season and I thought that tackle was unlike him really) need to be more composed at times and keep their emotions in check, as well as well as not making daft heat-of-the-moment tackles. We have a lot of good players but a lot of them also need to show a bit more experience, or at least gain some by learning from their mistakes.
MrFox781 Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 We actually had one of the best discipline last year joint with Watford near the end of the season. where did that get us? however Saturday we will never know what would have happened with 11 men but it was our own fault. so yes in some cases discipline has cost us
AKCJ Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 It's fair to say that poor dicipline has cost us at least 3 games (maybe more due to suspensions). If we'd have won at Forest and drew at Hull and Birmingham then we'd be 4th or 5th. Its an issue that Pearson will iron out, i'm sure.
