The pantomime season approaches..........

Well you did have to laugh because if you didn't you would cry.

Rarely have I witnessed such an inept display by any Leicester City team as that produced today,

I wouldn't want to 'rate' any player because on today's showing, (I deliberately avoid the word 'performance) it was like watching headless chickens - little or no co-ordination or planned attacking strategy. Indeed, the first half was about as exciting as watching a game of tiddly winks!

There has been so much criticism of Wellens on these boards that I thought that I would observe him in particular today. And my conclusion? He should be rested on both training days and matchdays! I shudder to think what Gelson Fernandes, Neil Danns, Yuki Abe etc must have thought.

PeterboroFox's '1' in the ratings thread was generous! Wellens used to play for Doncaster. Wth his woeful display today, he might have still cherished fond and happy memories of those times.

I am still trying to get my head around the fact that Howard was chosen to lead the attack. I wonder what Beckford and Schlupp will have made of that. I was reminded of the song 'I had a bad day but not as bad as this'.

And then the penny dropped! Yes, we had seen this all before, at Birmingham for instance, We were watching an advanced rehearsal of................. 'Dick Wellens is On' - or could it be 'A Lad - all in', - or even 'Becks and the Has-Been's Talk'

And did you notice the linesman, the one to our left? When the ball went out of play, he waited to see who was going to take the throw-in before he indicated the same with his flag.

As we stood at the bus stop (for nearly 45 minutes, waiting for the 'every 20 minutes bus service' back to civilisation, a Doncaster fan came up to us and said 'How did you manage to lose that?' 'Ah ha !' I replied 'that's our little secret but we are getting quite good at it.

You could say that 'we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory'. On second thoughts, today might not have been a pantomime rehearsal, it could have been an adaptation of the latest book by Pearson and Shakespeare, 'As you Don't Like It'!

Why didn't you shout "Its behind you" when konchesky missed the cross? wellens perfomed like a pantomime horses ass..him and king are the "ugly sisters" in midfield..

and beckmissfired is playing like the dame, dyer is a lightweight buttons and we could do worse than field the seven dwarfs, total shambles at the moment.

And if we had the genie in the bottle, what would our three wishes be?

1. Get rid of Wellens

2 Get rid of Howard

3 Get Billy Sharp

We need more than three wishes to turn around this shitty season to date.

As you stated in the first post we have the players here to turn it around, Abe, Danns, Johnson & Fernandez in Midfield, Schlupp & Nugent up front, Peltier, Konchesky, Mills & Tunch with Kasper but the problem with the Festive season you never get exactly what you want and there is always someone dressing up (in a City shirt) and making a complete horses arse of themselves... ;0(

I've said this time and time again but I really want to see Sol Bamba in Wellens position and Mills and Tunch center backs, really think it could work

The only pantomime is on here.

Some of the reactions would be laughable if they weren't so embarrassing.

What hope do our players and manager have with the attitude of some of our 'fans'.

Now these fans appear to want half of the team ****ed off in favour of another stack of expensive replacements.

If in doubt... chuck another few million quid at it.. that will do the trick.. and if it doesn't you'll all be down the King Power winding a pile of ****s into the replacements and the replacement replacement manager you will all be calling for.

Shameful.

After the game yesterday (which lets face it wasn't the best) I think I have come to the conclusion that the main pantomime is not just our team but some of the refereeing in the league.

The linesman on the left just didn't have a clue and with Beckford getting almost strangled by a defender without even the ref blinking an eye is just silly. Also, how that wasn't a corner I would never know. Being in the corner where the linesman was, I could see it was. and also was it me or did their keeper pick up the ball twice at some point?? Oh well...

But it wasn't just this game or our games. After watching the Footy league show regularly, I've noticed that refereeing in the football league is so inconsistent. Even in the Cardiff game against Middlesbrough they should have had a clear penalty. I will always remember the ref that gave the throw in to the other team because Gally took it in the wrong place! Never understood that. He didn't even tell him to move backwards.

Please, please football league give the whole football league consistent referees.

Didn't you hear? Constant chop and change is the ONLY way forward. Planning to the next transfer window has worked for... ummm, errrrm... BOOOOOOOOOOO.

Can't you read? The original poster's suggestion, and most of the contributors, wasn't to bring in expensive replacements but to use the squad we have (as Pearson promised he would do), and in particular to give a real chance to some of the excellent unused midfielders we have in the squad since our current midfield is seriously misfiring.

Anyone who travelled to a bitterly cold Doncaster, investing a lot of time and money, has every right to appraise the team's display on this forum.

The only "shameful" post has been yours.

Although I totally agree with your perception of the inconsistency of referees, in no way do I consider this issue to be a pantomime. It is a regular horror show and it might be funny it it weren't so serious. Yes they are clowns but their blatant incorrect decisions have repercussions for Clubs, players, finances - even the fans. by promoting anger and frustration. What makes it worse is that the FA come down like a ton of bricks on any player or Club official who offers even the mildest of criticism. As Alan Young said'They are not always right but they are never wrong.

The officials yesterday were by and large diabolical. It would seem for instance that when the keeper receives a back pass, he must not pick the ball up......................UNTIL he's kicked it round his area for at least ten seconds. Then it's OK.

The linesman on our left didn't know when to come in and the 4th official was a magician, manufacturing from out of the clear blue sky, an extra one minute at the end of the first-half,,

Is the same high and mighty Stockyfox, who critiscised us for criticising and moaned at us for moaning a couple of weeks ago?

Welcome to the dark side

Been away all week so missed (managed to avoid) any sort of contact with football bar checking the results then wishing I hadn't.

Can't really comment on the performances, but from what little I read it gave the impression we were better than both Donny and Peterborough, but we didn't get the points we deserved, oh well, it all seems a bit of an overreaction at the moment, against both we had more possesion and created more chances.

A tired old phrase but there are no easy games in this division and fine lines can make the difference between 6 points from 6 or 1 from 6.

Biggest issue seems to be taking chances, which suggests the midfield is creating them we just can't put them away. Were these performances as bad as some under Sven? Have we really gone backwards under NP? Or is it just fan overreaction? I think I know which one my money is on...

Yes! The comment from the Donny fan quoted in my first post said it all --'How did you manage to lose that?'

Tonight, I've phoned RL with the hope of asking NP (a) if he would give us some insight as to his team selection at Donny and (b) why he delayed so long bringing on Beckford. I don't really expect to be given the opportunity to put it 'live'. And any mention of Wellens would surely be a no no!

As is always we can offer a different side from the Rovers end....Im going to take your word for the above refereeing/linesmen mistakes as they were at the other end so i couldnt argue against you and you are probably right..However without wanting to get into a disagreement with fellow fans..Fortune was given offside 3 times, once when he was through when he was clearly onside when played in..Also he was manhandled to the floor for a cast iron pen in the second half...So we obviousley both have our gripes on that one..Although with the chances you had in the last 15 mins i myself dont quite know how you didnt get at least a point...

Have you not read the board? It was Wellens'/King's/Sven's/Gallagher's/Dyer's/Pearson's/Beckford's/Howard's/Mills'/Peter Taylor's fault we lost that game, they all conspired to miss those chances.

I appreciated your view in the thread you started, because it is getting to be increasingly difficult to get an objective opinion from the Leicester fans. If you believe most people on here we are the worst team in the world and only Schmeichel in goal has stopped us from losing every game this season. Maybe we didn't play at our best but these things happen and we will play badly again, and we will lose again this season, I just wish people had a bit more perspective on a few results, clubs need stability and time to lay solid foundations to build on for the future. NP has barely got his coat off and we are impatiently screaming for instant results.

Well done to Donny, you were arguably forunate, but these things will even themselves out through the season, we have certainly picked up points our performances haven't deserved this season, and likewise dropped them when we shouldn't have done. I hope you stay up.

Roversred, your comments in this and other threads, are appreciated. May I perhaps clarify one or two points with regard to views I have expressed about Saturday. Firstly, I do not begrudge Rovers their victory for one moment. You refer to our chances in the last 15 minutes. I wish we had played the first 90 as we did in the 3 mins added time when the ball flashed by the same post millimetres on the 'wrong' side.

My comments condemning the abysmal standard displayed by the officials is universal. What really disgusts me however is the protection they are given by the FA. Anybody connected to a Club who dares to utter one word of criticism is charged with 'bringing the game into disrepute'.

To my mind, by burying their heads in the sand and doing absolutely nothing to improve the standards, the FA are far more guilty of bringing the game into disrepute than any player or manager. To say that it balances out over the season is a cop-out and is simply turning a blind eye and tolerating total incompetence and ineptitude that has repercussions with players, managers, Clubs, fans, friends.

If you want to earn some extra dosh, be a football referee. So long as you can blow a whistle, you don't need to know any rules, make them up as you go along.

Anyway, hope you get enough points to avoid the drop. If you get opposition like you did on saturday, you'll be smiling all the way up the table!
