UrbanFox Posted 20 January 2012 Posted 20 January 2012 So tomorrow sees the start of the 28th African Cup Of Nations, co hosted by Gabon & Equatorial Guinea. Some big names missing this year including Egypt, Cameroon and Nigeria, All games shown live on British Eurosport or ITV4, Ivory Coast are heavy favs amongst the bookies and rightly so with their squad including our very own Sol Sol Bamba! I may stick a few quid on Ghana as they look pretty strong too! anyways discuss....
StanSP Posted 20 January 2012 Posted 20 January 2012 Clearly want Ivory Coast to win cos of the Sol connection. Would have been caught on the fence if Schlupp was playing for Ghana though! Senegal have a good chance. Their front-line is fairly threatening; Sow, Demba Ba, Cisse, Niang. Defence did well in qualifiers too. IC's squad is unreal. Eboue, Yaya Toure, Tiote, Drogba and of course Bamba . By far the strongest in the competition.

Koke Posted 20 January 2012 Posted 20 January 2012 Senegal FTW. Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse and Moussa Sow. Very potent attack. I wish Egypt was there instead of Libya or Tunisia. Neither of those two sides are gonna offer anything worthy of note.
THFC6061 Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 There are 15 players affiliated with English clubs at the 2012 African Cup of Nations Finals. Full details of the entire competition, including full squad details for all 16 participants, can be found here... African Cup of Nations Finals 2012 Gabon & Equatorial Guinea
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 Paintsil is the oldest guy in the Ghanaian squad at 30 yrs.......with the most caps ...76 !! Just thought i'd mention it.
Swalker Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 I kinda want Ivory Coast vs Ghana in the final. Bamba vs Pantsil (if he's healthy again)
StanSP Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 Eq. Guinea won 1-0 vs Libya and got a 1million dollar bonus for their efforts. Senegal 0-1 Zambia. Senegal are playing terribly. So bad in defence.
StanSP Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 Make that 2-0. Senegal's CBs need to learn how to play the offside trap.
HEGGSY Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 2-0 down to Zambia its on Eurosport UK for those wanting to watch it.
Guest MattP Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 It's a bit of a farce with no Egypt. They won it the last two times as they are the only side who can defend. Ivory Coast should win it tbh. Best squad by a mile.
StanSP Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 But they didn't qualify for the tournament. Teams can't be placed in just cos they have a good successful history in the tournament. I do agree that IC should win. Bamba might play tonight .
stix Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Bamba starting alongside Kolo Toure. Eurosport(sky channel 412) from 4pm
AdamN Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 HQ stream here: http://www.stream2watch.me/live-tv/eurosport-live-stream Sol Sol Bamba
stix Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Bamba is wearing a very dodgy head band Best. Monobrow. Ever.
Mack Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 It looks like he has acquired a cut over his eye and this band is protection.
Lambert09 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Bamba's Ivory coast just beat Sudan 1-0 Good to see him keeping a clean sheet.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 John pantsil played for ghana against botswana.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Spewing was hoping for Botswanna, would love to see them make it out of there group. Plus i hate Ghana and there fans.
