daib0 Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 TSI have said in a statement: Thames Sports Investment Ltd, a newly-founded private investment company, are very pleased to have signed Heads of Agreement with Sir John Madejski on Friday to acquire a significant holding in Reading Football Club. Our agreement is now subject to due diligence and the normal procedures from the Football League. The transaction is due to complete in March 2012, but the Heads of Agreement, as agreed with Sir John Madejski, includes providing Reading Football Club with some limited funding now to enable Brian McDermott and Nick Hammond to strengthen the playing squad during this January transfer window. TSI have met with Brian, Nick Hammond and the club to begin this process. TSI is also delighted that Sir John Madejski has agreed to remain Chairman of Reading Football Club until at least 2014, and to become Life President if and when he decides to step down. TSI wishes to emphasise that Reading Football Club's management team will remain unchanged, as will the fundamental policies of the club, including prudent fiscal management. Since Sir John Madejski took over at Elm Park in 1991 this club has rightly earned a first class reputation, on and off the pitch. TSI value and respect the ethos and approach held by everyone associated with Reading - the Chairman, staff, players and supporters. TSI's financial support aims to allow the club to retain its best players and acquire additional players as the football management team see fit. It will also enable the club to expand and further improve its successful Academy and scouting operations. ----------------------------- Views?? Is there danger of a Chelski, or 'Readingski' here do you think? In general terms, are so many foreign deals hampering the English game?
daib0 Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 Why foreign? Because it seemingly is a 29-year old Russian who went to school in Reading, with a super-rich father... Although TSI have yet to reveal their true identity to the fans, it is believed that the company is headed up by Russian biollionaire Anton Zingarevic, son of one of the country's richest men Boris.
syston_fox Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Well I hope they don't go round throwing money at players - they got very upset when we did that with Matt Mills so would hate them to fall from the moral high ground they created for themselves....
I am Rod Hull Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Cash cow Enjoy the ride... You can have Mills back for £8 mil...
Libertine Dream Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Read yesterday he tried to invest in Everton in 2004 but Everton delayed it, which led to the guy denying any interest. Fair play to Reading if they are going to invest massively and push them on. Never really know with foreign owners, could be another Briatore or Glazer(yes they turn a profit but they rarely spend big), could be an Abramovich. Just dont want McDermott to ever have money, hate him.
HEGGSY Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Will they have more money that us? Only joking I'm not that shallow
daib0 Posted 22 January 2012 Author Posted 22 January 2012 Asked on my forum (Royals Rendezvous) what are they worth and got back: £1.4bn according to the Daily Mail journo. (according to the advisor of Mr Zingarevich). And that's Anton, not his dad....... Reading have always been a cinderella team, so this doesn't feel real... Libertine, why do you hate McDermott - he's a good guy, never been involved in controversy! I don't think the Kebe thing was really bad feeling - Leicester have never had a bad name fown south.
Dan Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Oh, brilliant, those small-time pricks to become a big club over time. I wonder if McDermott will "conduct his business like Leicester" now eh
jonlcfc1990 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I bet all the players who want contract extensions got goosebumps big money coming in time to sign a nice big waged contract.
Happy Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 It is one thing to have the money but to use it wisely we are starting to do that now.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 It is one thing to have the money but to use it wisely we are starting to do that now. I agree considering some of the horror stories you hear we have done pretty well out of foreign investment. New training facilities new stadium layout "planned" Renovation and extension to 40,000 not to mention good ticket offers holidays to give away bringing back Nigel and letting him start a squad that will get us to the prem
daib0 Posted 23 January 2012 Author Posted 23 January 2012 I wish I could read the article Sorry, man, other forums don't offer so many settings! OK, next letter size up, hope that's better ...

I'm guessing its mainly the way he came out and publicly slated our owners for our transfers and the way we conducted our business. Now granted, its not worked out how most of us thought it would (fighting for promotion) but personally is be very surprised if McDermott doesnt bolster his squad with money from the new owners (providing the back him) and if he does well...contradiction and hypocrite come to mind and if not then fair play to the bloke. It's all ifs and buts though.
daib0 Posted 24 January 2012 Author Posted 24 January 2012 IMPORTANT WARNING! Father Boris Zingarevich http://www.rumafia.com/person.php?id=204 I'm not saying all of it is true, but I leave these big doubts for you to read
SMX11 Posted 24 January 2012 Posted 24 January 2012 If that is true then how the hell would his son pass a fit and proper persons test. I am sure I have read somewhere that they would offer limited funding to recruitment, not sure they will be splashing the cash tbh.

I am sure I have read somewhere that they would offer limited funding to recruitment, not sure they will be splashing the cash tbh. They are offering limited funding this transfer window because the deal is still incomplete with due dilligence etc to be done before confirmation in March but Zingarevich has his business plan and it sounds like he has a number of investors alongside him. 'Cautious optimism' is the phrase being used by fans at the moment. It all seems a bit too good to be true so we'll have to wait and see where it takes us. There seems to be an expectation that we will be promoted this season or next, but we all know that the Championship takes more than just throwing money at it. It sounds like we are intending to carry on under the same model that has kept us at the right end of the table in recent history, but with a bit more financial clout to bring in our targets and keep hold of our best players.
