Last night, when boro scored their second goal, there was no moaning, no booing but the fans simply got louder with their support. And that's what it was...support. You would have thought it were city that had scored. There is no doubt in my mind that this support drove the team on for the equaliser. Think how many points our negative, booing fans have cost us at home when we should have been supporting the team... On a similar note, I sat in the kop last night, near a family of season ticket holders. Dad, mum and two teenage lads. For the entire half they slated Wellens and beckford and also new signing Morgan. Comments like "your supposed to be a £4 million striker" and chants of "Richie Wellens is a red" they were an utter disgrace. How anyone can put up with sitting near these dingles I just dont know! By the way.... They cheered like crazy when Wellens created the first goal, and were going mad when the " £4 million striker " banged in a fantastic finish.... Shame on them!

Whilst I kind of agree with being "original" - i would MUCH rather have an atmosphere and copy other people's songs, that have 30 odd blokes singing something "original" in which nobody knows the words or melody and then feel outcasted and we then hit the "library" status again. Last night was buzzing, and I effing loved it and I am sure the players did too. Who actually cares that its copied? Name one song last night that 'boro sang that we hadn't heard before?

It would be nice if you were right though. We could just play positive crowd noises through the loudspeakers and we would win every game.

I have nothing against creating an atmosphere, I spent my time from between 14 until the day we left Filbert St in SK1 and as a kid had to pay adult prices (thanks LCFC) and loved every minute of it, but all songs have to start somewhere, surely people are bright enough to learn quickly!!! How do you learn the words to numerous football chants, generally you hear them sung a few times and it goes from there, I still think to this day, of all the songs we sing, When your Smiling still means the most to me as it's something that is almost unique to us. I'm not trying to be negative and I'd love Filbert Way/ The Walkers/ KP Stadium to be as loud as we once where but I think it's difficult to accept, but with football being more family friendly and more geared towards the huge money raked in for boxes 22k-44k I was quoted when I asked, football has changed, there may still be a small section of 16-35 year olds that want to get drunk, stand and scream and cheer, but a high percentage of a crowd will be, young kids, families, over 50 or on corporate days out. Not raining on anyones parade but it's just a fact.
leicesterisme Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I'm not blaming the fans, but in the first half as soon as a pass went astray there was moaning and groaning from the fans, this just puts extra pressure on the players. Second half the support was mostly brilliant. Don't agree with the treatment of Gally though when he got took off, no need for the sarcastic cheering. He did play shit but you don't do that to one of your own players.
