General Smuts Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Eli Manning Vs Tom Brady in a repeat of XLII. Giants won last time but Brady has 4 rings already. Think it's gonna be another close game but I'm going for the Patriots. What do we reckon?
StanSP Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Patriots to win in the only American Football game I'll watch each season. Yes, I'm a part-timer. Suck it. Just hope it's better than the last final they played out. That was boring.
Yojoe36 Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 The game's one hour long, and it's going to take 4 AND A HALF HOURS!!!! 10:30pm - 3:00am!! Jesus Christ all mighty
Guest Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 All the more time to drink beer in!! Swapped my days off from Tuesday to tomorrow so I'm all geared up for tonight. Think it'll be a Giants win tonight
James18 Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Can't wait! Don't really mind who wins, let's just hope it's a quality game.
ScouseFox Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Still don't know what's going on but for the 5th year in a row I'll stay up for as long as i can. C'mon the Giants. That's all i know.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Is it on a freeview channel or is it yet another Sky/Espn jobbie?
Lamby Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Is it on a freeview channel or is it yet another Sky/Espn jobbie? BBC1
FoxesAreBlue Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 BBC1 YEAH BOYIIIEEEE!!! never watched it before but always wanted to
FoxesAreBlue Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Anybody care to explain the rules to me? All I know is that they don't have stoppage time like we do - the clock stops during the game so an "hour"last more like two.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Patriots are favorites and as they're my favorite team I want them to win but I think there will be a shocker tonight and we will see Giants winning it. Got my shirt on for tonight, not sad at all

Maybe the BBC will do some kind of basic explainer as they'll be expecting people to tune in who may not have seen it before. If not just watch a few downs and you'll quickly pick the basics up I'm sure.
StanSP Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 I learnt the rules playing Madden about 4 or 5 years ago with a mate. Maybe get a few hours on that, if you can obviously. If you can't, then as above, BBC do a rule-book run-through: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/american_football/3192002.stm
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 I learnt the rules playing Madden about 4 or 5 years ago with a mate. I've played many great American Football games. Gridiron on the Speccy, Headcoach on my ST, TV Sports Football on my Amiga - but John Madden is probably the best, though more recent versions have gotten unweildy.

Only one I've played so can't really compare. Very enjoyable once you get the hang of it, although haven't played last couple of seasons. I never really did understand the roster/draft system though
General Smuts Posted 5 February 2012 Author Posted 5 February 2012 As with most Brits it's the only game I watch all year. I get caught up in the hype every year but it's prime drinking hours. Hoping for another good game.
