Superbowl XLVI

I do wish they wouldn't refer to themselves as World Champions, come on guys, no.

If they played in a Champions League style tournament after winning the Superbowl guaranteed a unknown team from Belgrade would beat them

Makes me laugh every year. USA is not the world. Morons.

Ridiculous finish with an accidental TD for the win.

Did anyone get Wembley tickets today as a result of watching it?

I've been to a couple of them but I'm away for this years. Saints vs Chargers was a good one, went to the tailgate party beforehand.

Some of the back-and-forth in this thread is great :D

Of course I (and a lot of others here) are thrilled that the Giants are Champs again. A month and a half ago, this team was reeling from having lost 5 of 6 games and were outside of the playoff picture. But the team responded with lots of heart and had a sensational run all the way to a Super Bowl title.

Before the season started, I didn't even think the Giants would make the playoffs. I thought their offensive line was suspect, they had too many injuries at the linebacker and defensive back positions, and I worried that their recent late-season collapses stemmed partly from the players not getting along with the coaches. Fortunately, Eli Manning played like a Hall of Famer all season long and the Giants were able in some stretches to score enough points to conceal some flaws. And the team finally got healthy enough at the end to set themselves up for a playoff run.

I've got one gripe, though: had Ahmad Bradshaw fallen to ground instead of scoring that free TD, and the Giants kicked a field goal near the end to win, I'd have won $500 from a Super Bowl pool because I drew that the Giants having 8 points in the ones column and the Patriots 7 (it would have finished Giants 18, Pats 17). Curses! But good for Bradshaw to score the winning points. That guy has pretty much played three seasons in a row on two broken ankles, and you've got to have a lot of heart and huge balls to play through that kind of pain.

Just watched the HT show back. Campest thing I've ever watched, is the stadium not full of rowdy men?

I don't think they're particularly concerned with whose in the stadium, its all about the viewing figures $$$.

Didn't get to bed until 3.30am, pissed, and had to get up at 7am for work.

Needless to say I was not a happy bunny this morning.

MIA has surely lost all credibility now.

I just about take that back. She lost cred for collaborating with Madonna in the first place but then got some back for pissing off a load of U.S. morality campaigners.

M.I.A. is a spoiled brat. Maybe those sorts of gestures were provocative when Sid Vicious was around, but today? Zzzzz...
