bring back silk scarves!

With scarves now being back in vogue (don't forget to bring your scarf to the Watford game tonight)

What about the old silk scarves, remember the days of them tied round the wrist. It tended to be the younger 'Boot Boys' (pre runners to the Baby Squad) that wore them, but they were a must have item.

I can even remember a bit of a trend my older brother started amongst a few in pen 4 with a City silk scarf on one wrist and a green Leicestershire silk scarf on the other wrist ( A good few City fans used to go down the cricket on a Sunday for the one day games in the 70's as we had quite a successful team and in those days it was the only place you could drink all day on a Sunday).

I think they were mostly associated with the 'Mods' from the late 60s early 70s and covered a whole dress style.

Silk scarves and European style chants at home being lapped up by all?

Is it me or did the Fosse Boys set up a year early?

In retrospect you're right, because most of the atmosphere at the place happens near the away fans but neither L Block nor N Block were realistic options.

I still think the club stamping on N Block in 2007 stopped something special, the away fans being surrounded by singers on either side would have done wonders for the atmosphere.

I agree it was a great vision to create an atmosphere at that side and start something new. The trouble? when your starting something it's always a minority and the stewards and police love a minority group of people why? so they can swoop in kick it out and stop it growing, This is why young lads around 16 in L block will get thrown out for banter when 400 odd are involved they love singling people out and "setting an example" but the better idea in hindsight is to spread the current feeling first and then watch it grow. In my opinion something is happening now that we have to keep going in one chant we've managed to spread an atmosphere over 4 stands for the first time in a long time and i think we need to keep it running. Family stand is doing it's bit and i'm hoping to see more bums on seats over in that block but you can see the effects of a good home atmosphere happy players happy fans and POINTS :D:scarf:

I think you have got the wrong end of the stick with this thread or you are just too young to remember the silk scarves round the wrists.

Col City fan, you clearly have some issues!!!! imagining me in fishnets? have a word with yourself.

Been trawling the net to try and get a picture of how we use to wear these scarves but found sod all.

Dangerous Tiger, how about putting a pic of your old scarf on here Its hard to describe without a pic.

I remember sticking my silk (nylon really) out of a car window all the way back from Orient when we won the 2nd division. A thread must have got caught on something because by the time we got back it was about 3 inches long.

For those who don't know what they are, they're akin to those crap pieces of material girls loop through their faux leather primark bags to try and make them look more expensive.
