Train set for sale on ebay

Seen this today on ebay thought the write up on why the woman was selling it was brilliant, not usually taken in by sob stories being a benefits adviser but this really sounded genuine to me. Have a read if you can item will not be on ebay much longer

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280824366494?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D280824366494%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_1239wt_932

Firstly, I have no idea whether the method of power is electric AC or DC. All I know is that it goes.

Barely used, in fact, it has just been 'looked at', because my child's father has a pathological need for order and tidiness so we were never allowed to touch the bloody thing. On the plus side, it's all nicely boxed and perfectly preserved, untouched, the true sign of someone with a disturbed, obsessive/compulsive personality. Owning a train set, sometimes, does not mean ENJOYING the train set, you understand....

It's all Hornby, from the track to the locomotive and carriages, accessories and people: more specifically, we have a Brake Van x 2, Maintenance Crane, six-wheel Milk Tank, Tank Wagon (Castrol and Shell), Class J83 Locomotive, Tipping Wagon (Barkby Jolliffe), Bulk Grain Wagon, Plank Wagon, Hopper with Canopy, Petrol Tanker (orange), Water Tower, Footbridge, Standard Train Controller, Railway Cottage x2, Track Pack E, Track Pack D, Track Pack C, Country Station, Tunnel House x2, Bungalow House, Switch, seven people (still boxed), one motorbike (still boxed), five bulls, five cows (conveniently together for mating, still boxed), ten sheep (still boxed), wall-mounted transformer, two regular straights, regular train wagon, quarry locomotive, barn wagon, half barn wagon, end-carriage x2, Country Station House, level crossing add-ons, level cross gates (small damage as some of them don't fit in the holes), chimneys, Hornby stickers, AND the Flying Scotsman in its entirety - with starter oval, track pack A and track pack B, locomotive and four carriages in its original box (photo missing but ready to be provided if you ask for one or more).

You may well ask why we are selling this. And I shall not lie: the father of my children has moved away to live with his new, charming fiancee' and her children. He has left me and the boys in modest rented accommodation, and taken/sold everything: the Georgian mansion (six beds, Grade II listed), the three Alfa Romeo sportscars, eight acres of rolling countryside, riverside land and manicured lawn, assets, pension, the lot. I was stupid enough to sign everything off to him when we divorced, in exchange for him having the boys for half the week and paying for the very nice school they attended. The consent order makes no provision for the boys, so now I am left on my own with them on an almost permanent basis, and no money whatsoever. Of course, the school fees are no longer paid. He has never paid me or the boys anything, apart from the fantastically generous CSA assessment, of which more later.

Mr Ex-Husband is to be commiserated, of course. He has a loving new partner who is a touch on the expensive side: he had to put all his cash into her property to make her feel secure in his love, and she must be wooed with Gucci handbags, Svarovski crystals and L'Occitane toiletries. According to the court statement, he also pays £1,000 a month in 'rent' and £500 a month is food. I guess that caviar is too dear nowadays, and that sharing a bed and bathroom is dreadfully costly. My heart truly goes out to him.

Fear not: the man has not forgotten his small children... He has left this train set, alongside with some of the boys' shoes, clothes and toys, at my front door. At least they are not naked or bare-footed. He also pays £34.90 a month towards maintenance, as the CSA must assess according to the information he has given. You will be relieved to find out that £34.90 buys their snacks, so that they can sample the taste of the occasional packet of crisps.

It is only entirely fair that his OTHER two children (did I mention he is a bit of a third-hand man, having married twice and now engaged again?), who are adults and independent, get £390 a month from their generous dad. One would not want them to feel left out.

According to Mr Ex-Husband's "schedule of needs", he must also spend £200 a month in cleaning and ironing help. I guess that the fianceè is a little busy soaking in L'Occitane bath creams to do any of these menial tasks. I am surprised there is no mention of the manicurist and beautician fees to keep it all shipshape.

And so it is that we have decided to sell the entire train set, the remnants of a lifestyle which we once had, to raise some cash. it will go towards luxuries such as weekly shopping, petrol, children's clothes and other extravagant expenses.

And yet, whether you buy this train set or not, I am infinitely richer than I ever was: happier, healthier, and more loved (by my boys) than my previous life as a hired 'arm candy'. Matrimonial prostitution is an expensive activity, for the woman if not the man....

Thank you for looking, for reading, and for - maybe - buying.

Knowing who usually gets most of the loot in any divorce , I'm more than a bit suspicious .

His lawyer must be damned good.

The bit about unable to pay Child Support made me laugh £500 for food and £200 for cleaning and ironing help per month whilst his new Mrs soaks herself in L'Occitane bath cream, if its genuine I'm surprised she hasn't smashed the train set up tbh

Surprised she didn't mention your £300 per month Leicester City match day expenses WTF BBQ

Seems a little bit of a story teller. Georgan Mansion? 3 sports cars? If he had a good lawyer wouldn't she? She must have known some considering the lifestyle she may have had.

I think she told the story thinking it may get higher bids, although itmay be snapped up by some dealer. I've seen single carriages go for a few quid on these aution programs and she saying a lot of it is boxed. He dumped it on her doorstep rather than taking it to a dealer seems hard to believe. She was probably bored when putting it on Ebay and a bit of a daydreamer and mickey taker.

Her replies are good 'Thank you for the proposals of marriage'

I thought there was a word count limit to the description. She has her life story there.

While we are on Ebay subject I was thinking about what sells well on there. Do knick knacks sell? Ornaments, pot bells figurines toby jugs etc. Sometimes I see them in charity shops for around 50p. I was thinking they are not big so postage would not be a lot. Some people collect certain type of these things. No doubt they could pick them up in charity shops as well but I may get lucky and find some they do not have. Dont want to sell big things atm. Tell me if its a stupid idea.

Nice advertising ploy. It's definitely better than saying Train set for sale that my husband found at the car boot. Money from sale will be used to divorce him as he sits around doing nothing but swigging lager and watching cash in the attic.

Posted

My old housemate used to pretend to be a 50 year old woman on online poker to lure people into a false sense of security. Maybe it's him.

Have you checked your toy cupboard to see if your train set is still there ?

Posted

Other items she has sold are mainly kids things and a few womens dresses etc, which adds the potential of an element of truth to the story.....that she is a woman and has kids.

A witty interesting read anyway lol

Is the highest bid still £216? Not sure cuz I used the link.

And reserve still not met!

Posted

What is the reserve? I would imagine its nearer £1000. Individually they would fetch a bit.

Not too sure on the reserve price, it stays hidden from bidders. It's still at £216 anyway.

Posted

I assume if it has a reserve above the present price she had it valued which puts more suspicion on her story and claim that she does not care what or if it is sold for.

It's worth notifying Tory HQ as it'll work out considerably cheaper than HS2 and offer more benefits.

Keep that quiet, I'm praying for the day when brummies and cockneys can get together in 50 minutes - hopefully they'll murder each other
